Hello all,

So I'm doing a re-x (my first one actually) and I am in need of some help. I've done a few extractions (3-4) and every time I've gotten the dense goo which is characteristic of ACRB. This time, however, I don't have as much if any impurities and all of my crystals are floating in the naptha. Little to none of them are sticking to the bottom or falling at all. Any help would be much appreciated.

If crystals are important to you I would first do a mini A/B then do the re-x. You do realize that you dissolve the dmt with heat, right?

It's not that crystals are important to me, I just wanted to try my hand at purification.

Yes, I completely understand the process for recrystallization. I am precipitating right now, and I don't know how to make the DMT stick to the bottom.

You can get mimosa like crystals with a mini a/b. I would give it a try next time Smile. You can't force the dmt to stick to the bottom. Carefully siphon off the naphtha from the corner of your glass dish and you should be fine. I would keep it in the freezer for 18 hours.

Your crystals are floating? I've never seen that happen. If you can, give heptane a try for rex, it always seems to produce a more powdery product, and you can usually separate it to make a pile of orange, a pile of yellow, and a pile of white. This will let you test and see how pure you prefer your spice. They are all good, and all have a different characteristic or profile of experience. I'll use different fractions of the recrystallization depending on whether I want a more diversified experience, or what my mood is at the time.

I like to give my stuff 24-48hrs, but as I was telling someone else. Leave it long enough for the solution to be totally translucent, you don't want to be decanting naptha/heptane with any precip still in it. I've placed the same naptha that I had already let sit in the freezer for 48hrs, then decanted off the precip, back into the freezer for two more days and I'd guess I got another 10-20% more crystal growth and precipitation. Some things just take time.
