I'm toying with the idea of micropropagation/hair root cultures and callus cultures for mimosa tenuiflora. Specifically what I have in mind is first trying a callus culture and extracting from it directly, using a mimosa sapling as feedstock.

Second I propose organogenesis of the roots, and grafting them into an existing non mimosa/mimosa plants, then innoculating with hairy root disease to grow these plants along much quicker.

Also, has anyone tried grafting mimosa, or growing hydroponically?

I've also had minor success with the micropropagation of phalaris aq1 strain starting with protoplast isolation. I'd also like to try fusing protoplasts of aq1 with endogenous phalaris grasses and profiling their alkaloid content. I'm looking to bounce ideas around and discuss methods and possible experiments.

"In all cases, the neurotoxic compound N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) was detected with the lowest concentration 0.01% dry weight (DW) in flowers, and the highest 0.33% DW in bark. For the in vitro cultures, DMT was present in high yields in plantlets (0.1-0.2% DW), while in calluses this compound was initially detected but its concentration decreased significantly in the subsequent subcultures."

I have 5 Mimosa hostillis seeds that I think I will germinate this spring. I can grow them hydroponicaly to see if I can grow lot of roots that way. What hydroponic system you would recommend I use?
I am just a crazy person.
