I was wondering if you could do the limonene acetate tek then cover the acetate with 5-10% sulfuric acid and water solution to convert the mesc acetate into a sulfate, then precip mesc sulfate crystals out in cold water in the freezer to get rid of some of the non-mesc alkaloids in the water, then clean up the sulfate further with some 99% iso and then convert back to acetate for a cleaner more crystalline acetate that is more pure mesc.

Would this be possible?

Well converting the acetates to sulfates and freeze preciping crystals will work. And so will the ISO washes. I'm not 100% certain about the conversion back to acetates though.

Sulfuric acid is stronger, and I don't know how volatile it is. The excess acetic acid will evaporate out, but the excess sulfuric might remain with the mescaline and thus keep the mescaline in sulfate form. Hopefully a more chem savvy poster can clarify.

EDIT: You could always freebase with sodium (bi)carbonate, but that might generate high losses.

Well you could freebase it afterwards, then convert it to acetate. Why not just use sulphuric acid in the first place though if you don't want the extra alkaloids? I'd stick with Hcl, but I like the extract I get using straight up vinegar.

Well swim can't access hydrochloric, only sulfuric acid. And he was wary of ingesting sulfates after reading the warnings about them here.

Well I'd give you the all clear to go ahead with your original idea, but with a basing step after you clean the sulphate salts before you convery back to acetate.

Does anyone have any info in how the effects of m. sulphate and m. acetate are different? Maybe you be better off leaving it as sulphate. Other than not wanting to consume sulphuric acid maybe sulphuric is a more pleasureable experience? I'm sure if it's adequately cleaned any contaminants would be minimal.

Do you have much mesc to play with? I'm always quite concern with keeping, reaction steps down to a minimal because I've lost a lot of stuff through unecassary experiemntation.

My main concern is that it gives digestive problems like diarrhea and I don't want to have loose water guts plaguing my otherwise beautiful experience.

Or jsut go with the acetate thing... sorry I was interjecting too much and putting a bad spin on things. But acetate to sulphate/clean to freebase to acetate should work fine for some nice cleaning. I'd quite like to see some clean mesc acetate crystals actually.
