I can't really explain this...
First of all, I have done quite a bit of DMT, can't really say how many times, and I have had more breakthroughs than I can count. I usually smoke DMT crystals using the sandwich method, but sometimes I smoke Changa. I know my technique is alright!

I smoked Changa, and for some reason nothing happened, or, I got some visuals if I had my eyes opened, but if I closed them I got nothing. I felt as if something was going on and my thoughts were kind of affected. I thought there must be something wrong with it. Next time I smoked it and got a really awesome breakthrough, one of the better ones, pure bliss! After an hour, again, a great profound breakthrough! A week later, I smoked again and nothing, as the first time, just some slight colors and something going on in my mind.

If someone else posted this queston I would say there is something about their technique, but I pretty much know I got it right since I have had a lot of practice Smile

What's going on? This have never happened to me before! I have had different levels of experiences, but never like this. Could it be that this Changa is a bit unstable to the point where it is very easy to burn it? However, my experience is that Changa is quite forgiving when it comes to technique??

I just don't know...

Are you on any other meds or taking other drugs at all? Burning spice can cause a diminished effect or at least a slightly different effect but usually not with changa as the herb protects it kinda, maybe explore with holding the lighter a bit further away or buy a vaporizer, at least your lungs will thank you! yuck!

You experienced a so called shut out. Sometimes hyperspace is closed for unknown reasons.

It happens to me quite often. About one out of every four attempts. The molecule remains a mystery.

Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

It could be a shut out, yes, but it could also be that your DMT and harmalas are unevenly distributed on your plant material. The common solvents we use to infuse changa (acetone, ethanol, Iso) don't dissolve harmalas very well and can lead to uneven changa. See here for more information about harmala solubility:

If you infused your DMT onto caapi leaf (with no additional harmala alkaoids infused) then ignore the above. These are just some thoughts.

Here is a similar case from another post on the Nexus:

(A quite common occurrence.)

"Now my problem: Since those last two trips almost a month ago now I can not get back to what could even be remotely considered hyperspace. I've smoked double bong rips of !:! change that should knock me out of the galaxy with absolutely no effect other than a bog standard trypamine glow when I open my eyes. I only open my eyes because absolutely nothing is happening with them closed. No hurtling through the Chrysanthemum, no toy room, no elves, no self-transforming faberge eggs. Nada. If I didn't know better I'd think it was my medicine ... but its not as confirmed by friends and my spouse. "

The advice given to him is the same I'd give to you: change your intention engaging with the substance, and take a little hiatus. Never hurt anyone to let the spice breath.

The metaphysical comfort--with which, I am suggesting even now, every true tragedy leaves us--that life is at the bottom of things, despite all the changes of appearances, indestructibly powerful and pleasurable--this comfort appears in incarnate clarity in the chorus of the satyrs, a chorus of natural beings who live ineradicably, as it were, behind all civilization and remain eternally the same, despite the changes of generations and of the history of nations.
--Nietzsche

Ontology has it backwards. “This ‘saying to the Other’ — this relationship with the Other as interlocutor, this relation with an existent — precedes all ontology; it is the ultimate relation in Being”
--Levinas

Thank's, for your answers! I actually had a hiatus of a couple of months since the police took all of my spice. It might be that it's uneven. I will make new DMT in a couple of days. I'll see if I will experience the same shut out later on!
