Can lime (calcium hydroxide) be used in a bufo extraction instead of calcium carbonate?
Also, if one were to have to choose between 96% ethyl alcohol and anhydrous acetone, which would be preferable for isolating the bufotenine?

You want anhydrous because the IPA has 4% water or equivalent in it, which might not be an issue but will prolong evap times.
The whole point of using calcium carb is to base it, raise the PH up to where to bases the alkaloid which lets you pick it up with a solvent of choice. Cal hydroxide has a PH of 12.4 so double check with you tek to see what PH you need. I really thought by now you would know the answers to these sorts of question maranello, it seems you really just like to make a lot of threads. Anyways, I am sure you can find calcium carb on the net if you can't in your hardware store, or swap it for another base.

There is some theorizing that bufotenine carbonate is a bit less unpleasant to dose, but from what I've seen that argument doesn't really hold water. Yes, yor lime will work fine for basing yor yopo/cebil and the dry acetone would be the preferable solvent for pulling yor bufo (though the ethanol will work fine as well, just take slightly longer to evap and pull a bit moar impurities).
