Using Kash's tek, which if I remember correctly, employs HCl, and xylene + possible purifying/re-crystallization, should extract a spectrum of alkaloids beyond just mescaline. Whether its the 'whole' spectrum is questionable, and if you want that, I think resin would be the way to go. But I think that one gets the spectrum one wants with Kash's tek.
Atleast upon initial evap of hcl/mescaline solution, one gets a tannish/white crystalline layer that is not just mescaline (probably some plant fats and other alkaloids and things), but is mainly the good stuff.
Xylene can be reused. I believe there's info around the site on disposal too.
Also, you really should be cognizant of what chemicals you are using and the safety procedures involved. Not to baby you, but: Hcl is volatile and you should be mindful not to inhale it. It can blind you if you get concentrated solution in your eyes, or can burn you if on your skin. I assume you will be acquiring more dilute hcl - muriatic acid, or some other grade. Just be mindful of what you are using and the safety procedures. Xylene is a volatile as well, and is flammable. Work with it in a place with some ventilation.
Not to scare you away from chemicals either, because I think teks that use strong acids/bases and efficient solvents are great, but you really should know what you are doing, and do your homework, for your own sake.
