Hi Nexians!
Just wanted to share my thoughts on a topic that is of great interest to me. That is, cannabis and how it has been, and still is, an integral part of human culture. It is a plant-human symbiosis that has been happening for thousands of years, and still continues today.
There is evidence cannabis was used by humans since Neolithic times. That's over 12000 years ago!

It is one of the first plants to be domesticated by man.
http://www.ancient-origins.net/...rney-through-ages-003084Cannabis was held in high regard in many cultures. The ancient Chinese used it for fibre, food, and medicine. They also knew of its psychoactive properties. It was used by ancient Chinese shamans to communicate with spirits.

It is one of the five sacred plants mentioned in the Vedas. The use of cannabis is closely associated with Shiva and devotees, to this day use cannabis to aid their meditation practice and bring them closer to their god.
http://www.sparcsf.org/learning...er/spiritual-use-canabisCannabis was known to many other cultures including, but not limited to, the ancient Egyptians, Persians, Assyrians, Greek, and the Sufis. All these cultures highly valued cannabis for its medicinal, commercial, or entheogenic properties.
Of course, when talking about cultures that hold cannabis as sacred, the Rastafarian culture has to be mentioned. They use cannabis to aid their meditation practice and bring them closer to Jah. They also hold "reasoning sessions" where they smoke cannabis ceremonially and discuss life from a Rastafarian perspective. They believe that cannabis is the "Tree of Life" mentioned in the Bible and they identify cannabis as "the herb that is for the healing of the nations".
The cannabis plant might just be the most useful and beneficial plant in human society and this is why it is used and loved by so many cultures.
Anyway, those are just my thoughts, what do you guys think?
Below is a image of the Egyptian goddess Seshat depicted with a cannabis leaf.
