For me the hyperspace is very loud and fast with a lot going on, but when I am coming down and its completely silent around me I can hear the most interesting things. If I pay attention the silence becomes very loud and full of all kinds of frequencies and sounds. The more I focus on it the deeper it becomes and I get a sense of an unimaginable age to it. Like I can hear echoes from billions of years in the past. Its really quite something to witness and leaves me with an immense feeling of awe.

Yeah I get similar feelings.. not just with dmt either I find generally if I just relax and become attentive I can hear a ringing sound all the time.. almost like the glue that holds reality together. With dmt the ringing becomes more pronounced and alien

Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

Interesting topic! My house is relatively close to the street so no matter where I am in my house, I can almost always hear the traffic passing by. This, of course, depends on the time of day etc etc. Anyway, I find it fascinating that when I take DMT, all other sounds are drowned out. All I can hear is what I can only imagine a spacetime rip might sound like along with strange bleeps and bloops of hyperspace. Don't get me wrong, if my girlfriend was in the room moving around or talking, that would be quite distracting. Another example is sirens or even dogs barking. All of these things have at one time or another added a weird disjointed feeling to the experience, as if these sounds entered the trip and detached me from it and brought me back to "normal" reality in some form or fashion.

All of that being said, on the way down from a DMT experience, I almost feel as if I am emerging from being deep underwater, in which I gradually start hearing the noises in my "real" environment again. The silence can be welcomed or can cause disappointment, depending on what sort of experience I had. There have been many occasions where I was so relieved to "come back" that I could have kissed the Earth in gratitude, while other experiences left me wanting never to leave. This period of coming down in silence is also when I am able to start making sense of (trying to, anyway) the experience, in which after a minute or two I jump up and start scribbling down anything I can remember.

Silence is incredibly loud sometimes, it just depends on what you are listening for. Very happy

Sound is vibration and it stretches between hyperspace and this reality. Stretch is the best word for it I feel. It is flexible and expandable. It flows and carries in both worlds. Silence is not silence at all once one is listening. It seems silent. But vibration and frequency are everywhere. It all comes together into a symphony of experience.

thus lost alone midswim eternity,
somewhere my heart was turned in sync with i.
and so i swim, on through my abyss,
for no end of ages shall pass,
when i remember forever what i am at last.
this truth is beyond the intellect,
so thinketh not!
for the silence surely speaketh best,
oh screameth doth the silence!
a most loudful soundless utterance,
listen not and pay attention to the wisdom of the voiceless.

not another spoken word,
of writ my throughts are echoed,
of scripted ink i sing!
here was found eternity’s secret

I find that whether it is DMT, mushrooms, or LSD, and even cannabis to a certain extent, the silence becomes deafening. I think it rmay be this incredible silence from which we distract ourselves constantly, namely by thinking.

I hear that "ringing" normally as well when it is silent and I am undistracted. But with DMT, Mushrooms, and even last time I had a THC edible, I hear exactly what TGO is describing...

And I pretty much looked at it like this...

But sometimes if I can really just let myself get lost in it, it becomes deeper, more complex and I start to get this really weird feeling of witnessing the ghost, skeleton, or echo of something so immense its unimaginable. Something so much older and larger than what could ever be conceivable that barely glimpsing at the remnants are almost too much for me to witness.

Beautiful poem and really speaks to me and what I am talking about.

The funny thing is I keep hearing how good music is on psychs and have been meaning to play some tunes during one of my trips, I even had a play list set up on my iPod and plugged into my stereo so all I had to do was hit play during one of my last shroom trips. Half way through my trip my GF reminded me about it and I was just like "no, this silence is way to interesting".

The one mushroom trip I did listen to something on my stereo, it was this on repeat...

I didn't really "hear" it while I was tripping, but it definitely guided the trip and gave it a certain flavour.

That's so interesting, I've listened to that exact same om track countless times and om'd along with it. I have become the size of the entire universe om'ing along with that. And it's always with mushrooms.

*Going slightly off topic here*

If you have the right music, it can compliment a mushroom journey infinitely, although music goes quite well with most psychedelics, IME. DMT is pretty much the only one in which I prefer silence.

All in all, I've found nature to be the most relaxing tune. It is definitely not silent, but it sure is elegant and peaceful. I really miss living in the middle of nowhere...

Nice, I'm going to have to try that. For some reason om'ing along never occurred to me, but its so obvious lol.

I guess it depends what music you enjoy normally. Although I do like music, I definitely don't listen to it or enjoy it as often as I assume most people do on average. Its weird because I don't think I would like listening to most of the music on mushrooms that I like to listen to normally. Actually this is one reason I downloaded the Om track. I am still in search for more music that I think I would find enjoyable for myself while on mushrooms.
As a side note, I do like Tool and maybe I should give some of their songs a shot next time I am on shrooms.

When I started down my DMT path I was originally very frustrated with external sounds while I was out there. If I hadn't quite fully broke through, and even during full breakthroughs I would find sound somewhat disturbing or distracting. Even so much as hearing a car horn honk kind of kernel-panicking the whole experience until it died down.

I lived on a busy street. Regular car traffic, honking horns, riced out subaru's blaring by with their coffee can mufflers. So my solution to this was to simply overload my auditory system with music. Entheogenic, Shpongle, stuff like that. And it worked a treat.

Then I moved. I moved to a little town so removed that after 9pm it was earily quiet. Coming from the city and being an insomniac I was immediately dubbed "that wierd guy who goes for walks at 3 in the morning." which lead to numerous chit-chats with the county sheriff about what I was doing out that late. From our duplex, in the middle of a still night with the window open and a tuned ear one could hear the 20 cows murmuring a mile down the street.

On just one such night I got the call to visit hyperspace. I loaded up my favorite playlist which starts with 'Midnight Eyes' and hit the spice. I'd forgotten to hit play though. From the silence I became aware of that sound that permeates hyperspace. That ringing cyclic, round-about turning rhythmic sound. The dancing jester before me moved with it, creation billowing forth with each sort of cycle of the sound.

I've heard this sound before. I've heard it here. I've heard it out there. I've heard it in lawn mowers and car horns, I've heard it in everything from techno to country, a baby's laugh and cry to my grandfather's death rattle. The Jester exploded in laughter and I sat completely upright gasping in a huge gulp of air from the depths of an ocean of hallucination and tried to stifle uproarious laughter as I let out a deep "AAAAAAAAuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmm....." that trailed off with the last bit of air in my lungs.

I'm paraphrasing Rohit Mehta here (probably horrifically so) from his writings on the Upanishads. The Symbol ॐ (AUM) starts at the back of the throat and ends at the lips, while rolling from back to front through all the possible sounds between A and M. It is everything that can be articulated. But just as important as what can be articulated is the in-articulable. The silence between. It is this silence between the recitations of Aum that it derives it's meaning. Without the silence it is...nothing.

Before the big bang there was nothing, then Bang, and here we are riding field perturbations that will ultimately die off to and ultimately cold and quiet death in the grand scheme of things. The universe itself is ringing with the sound of Aum.

Ever since this realization of sorts I've loved doing my trips without any music and listening to whatever sounds make it to my auditory center. And now that I've learned to sort of accept them, I have to laugh at how even a loud exhaust going by takes on this Aum quality in the hallucination. It is created quietly, gets louder and persists and slowly rolls right on through to it's destruction giving way to the silence between.

And as hallucination gives way back to reality I lay there listening to the sound of the universe becoming ever more distant and quiet and listening to the silence between sound.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Take the third hit
Then youuu....

I agree, it definitely depends on personal taste and what you enjoy normally. I'm a musician so I tend to eat, breathe, and sleep music every day. But when on psychedelics, especially mushrooms, something clicks into place for me, and it brings about a whole new dimension of appreciation for the hard work put forth by those artists.

I definitely recommend giving Tool a listen while shroomin'! The complexity of their music is intense on a sober level... but on mushies? Shocked Love

The brotherhood of the "screaming abyss"! Truer than true. The real gift that psychs engender is to catalyze the deeply primordial experience of the, howling wilderness, whence we spring and are continuously sustained. On bended knee we supplicate.

On a related note, there is a genre of Scandinavian produced movies that hark back to pre-modern, pre-industrial era of exploration by Nordes. Often there is little dialogue and the "movie" experience is given over to long scenes of crushing quietude, interminable inactivity and an overwhelming envelopment by the pregnant wilderness. It is amazing to be reminded of the immense solitude and complete surrender to "environment" our ancestors endured, embraced, were forged by. It is no different now, we're just habitually DISTRACTED and amnestic, moment to moment. The plants allow us to REMEMBER!

Peace

This reminds me of a time this summer I was at a beautiful mountain campsite on a warm sunny afternoon. The breeze was gentle and calming, I had a nice view of an empty lake, and only the sounds of nature were all around me. I decided this would be a cool time to enter hyperspace. I got everything ready and laid down in my tent. I took my first big pull off the GVG and exhaled and as I began to take my second pull and could feel the come up a truck came trolling by with the biggest loudest muffler. Thump, thump thump, it was like a loud rolling bassy sound that just put me right one edge. Completely ruined it for me Sad

I am lucky, I live in a decent sized city, but the place I just moved into is on a real quite street and I can find silence as long as my girlfriend isn't home haha and my dogs aren't barking for some reason.

You reminded me of something I used to do at my old place, where I would listen to a car drive by at night and follow the noise as long as I could as it trailed off. I would try to pinpoint the exact moment that I could no longer hear it. I could never do it. The noise would just trail off into infinity. Pretty cool.

Another thing I noticed lately is how easy it is to get myself in a completely clear mind state while in a room full of un comprehendible chatter from strangers.

I will. Do you have a song and dose suggestion?

This is one of the reasons I started back country hiking and camping last year, though much of my listening is focused on noises that may signify near by predators whilst out in the backcountry. I am lucky that I have very keen sense of hearing, and like to think that I can pick up on threats early enough to give me an advantage when encountering one. When I am in a spot where I can see far enough to not be worried about something sneaking up on me (or accidentally sneaking up on something) I relax and can enjoy the precious sounds of the wild. I do enjoy it either way, but it is different while I am hiking in an area I know is prone to having predators.

I can't really say what would be the best dose for anyone else, but if it helps, I never dose under 5g homegrown cubes anymore.

As for song suggestions, it is hard to narrow it down to just one soooo here are a few of my favorites:

-Right In Two -
-The Pot-
-10,000 days (Wings Part Two)-
-Schism-
-Forty Six and 2-
-H.-

It is true that vibration and frequency are everywhere, after all all of energy and even matter are vibration, albeit matter vibrates much slower than energy. On the other hand, those bleeps and bloops and ringing and everything does not strike me as frequencies heard in the air that are typically all around (though they easily may be).

There are two things to consider. Firstly, all of the frequencies that I perceive would easily fall within biological physical perception of sound. Yes, sometimes the frequencies can get rather high, but our ears can perceive very high pitches, and as high as DMT frequencies get, I don't estimate them pushing that upper extremity of human hearing. There can be exceptions I'm sure, just as we can see regular colors in hyperspace, as well as those that don't look like they belong on the visual light spectrum during special experiences. The main point I'm trying to establish here is that since most of the frequencies fall in a nice range of where many musical instruments can play, it is unlikely that we are unable to perceive them without DMT because the frequencies are in dog whistle territory.

Secondly, I don't perceive the sounds as free-floating or omnipresent within my space. The bleeps, bloops, electronic sounds, frequencies - all that seems to emanate off of entities and objects (probably landscape and architecture too). I'll give you an example of an experience I had which demonstrates this point. There was an entity, and it was looping in circles. As it would approach me, the bleeps would naturally grow louder, and as he regressed away from me, the volume would diminish. Since he was looping, this would happen cyclically.

I would therefore like to qualify my initial thought by saying that if the frequencies are indeed around us all the time, and we cannot perceive them, then I would modify that thought to reflect the notion that frequencies may be around us, provided that we are near imperceptible hyperspatial energy/things.
