So I'm not all that knowledgeable when it comes to chemistry. Just want to get that out of the way.

As far as emulsions go I have never had a problem with them whether it was the first pull or the fifth. So one time I decided to shake the shit out of my juice until I did get an emulsion. An emulsion did form and was easily gotten rid of with some salt.
My question is why not shake the shit out of the mixture all the time every time until an emulsion is formed? To me it makes sense that this would help pull more goodies out because more solvent is in contact with more juice for longer periods of time and if this is the case given the simplicity of getting rid of the emulsion why not do it every time?

I did a fair amount of searching on this question but most of what I found was just general discussion about emulsions and how to remove them and not what they could possibly do.

So you basically say that an emulsion is an indication of the solvent having been mixed with the basic solution really well so people should aim for one?

Well, for once some emulsions are easy to get rid of, some others are sent from satan himself and just won't go away no matter the tricks. It all depends among others on the plant material used, the base used and the solvent used. Salt doesn't always help with all emulsions.

Of course the best way is to try to prevent an emulsion and take care to mix gently. It really does not take ages, a 5-10min mixing will ensure all the solvent has come in contact with the solution. But if the salt trick helps in your "system" (i.e. tek/plant material/base/solvent etc) then it's all fine, you can shake the hell out of it!

Thank you.
I'd never done the gently shaking thing for more than a few minutes so perhaps I will do that a bit longer from now on and avoid finding my self stuck with a satanic emulsion.
