If anyone likes Marvel movies, or even if you just like sci-fi or if u like seeing things that can relate to your dmt trip, watch this movie, there are some wild scenes that remind me of the kaleidescope tunnel and the endless folding and crazy objects! Aside from that Love the movie

I saw previews for this film, visually it looked fairly interesting...I love things which are Bizarre, strange, abnormal, novel, etc...Though I'm skeptical when it comes to big money productions, I feel the visual effects may be the only psychedelic aspect of the film.
The name reminds me of the film "Dr. Strangelove", which is a classic, a great film...
I've seen a good deal of visually psychedelic programs seeping into the mainstream recently...
I hope the deeper aspects of psychedelia manage to breakthrough the superficial visual aspects of it that the mainstream is growing so fond of....

Yep, it's immediately obvious that Dr Strange differentiates not only from the rest of the Marvel movies, but also most action movies by bringing in the psychedelic angle. While it's never explicitly stated in the movie/trailer, the kaleidoscope effects and other trippy CGI are obvious as to where the writers wanted the story to go.
Personally, I was never a Dr Strange fan in the comics world, and I was baffled as to why there was going to be a movie about him. But when I saw the trailer, I got sold. These days, I go to the cinema only once a year or so, and that's the movie I'm watching this year on the big screen (last year was Star Wars).

I agree that the trailer was very eye-catching for a psychonaut like me. Just because it looks similar visually in that one thing doesn't mean that the movie is a copy or that the effect is used the same way. Besides, 'everything is a remix'. I agree that it would have been nice for the movie to be even more psychedelic, but I expect that to be more normal in the next few years. We're getting there.

I also rarely go to to the cinema, when my friend showed me the trailer for this I knew it would be worth it for the full 3D effect. I saw it last night and it was quite visually stunning, at times evocative of a psychedelic/expansive headspace. Compared to the generic comic book/action movies Hollywood churns out it's quite weird and wonderful, although the strangest part of this movie for me was listening to Benedict Cumberbatch speak with an American accent. I liked that the plot has some spiritual tones, emphasizing direct experience over new-agey beliefs, and
that it also mentioned psilocybin & LSD.

Astro84, what is "accurate but Hollywood"? Does not compute. Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.

I went to see this last night in a pretty empty cinema with three good friends, I thought it might be a good idea for us all to have a pinch of liberty cap mushrooms prior, which we did, and we shared a joint on the way to the cinema. This was considered by all of us in retrospect to be a very very good decision on our collective part, definitely the most psychedelic film experience of my life to date, lots of reference to psychedelic states, astral projection, other dimensions and multiverse theory. A visually spectacular and ambitiously realised film that was highly entertaining, especially in our mind states at the time...we were all happy to not have dosed any higher, the amount we had worked really well. But yeah, it gets my vote, highly recommended viewing for any interested or curious Nexians!

Cool, excited to see it, solely on the recommendation of this thread! I looked and it's not open yet where i live... Btw, if y'all are into giant monster movie, see the new Godzilla if you get a chance. Not psychedelic, but really really cool. This was by far the trippiest movie I've ever seen (and in IMAX...wow). All around amazing and many hints to psychedelics ; such as the split second scene of the old man on the bus reading Huxleys Doors of Perception
<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

I vaguely remember reading Dr Strange in comics when i was a kid. The special effects reminded me of Cyriak. The film was like Harry Potter meets Cyriak with a bit of youtube physics/spiritual documentary thrown in. It was ok but i wouldn't watch it again. The storyline was more flaccid than a potato chip that had been left in a salt solution for a month.

It's not really a spoiler, it's already in the official trailer:

Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

My gf and I just went and saw this and the visual effects were completely stunning and very reminiscent of the psychedelic experience. As a whole, the movie really wasn't my cup of tea but it was worth it to see those effects. I'd still recommend it to anyone here! New to The Nexus? My favorite part in the film is when the Ancient One explains that magic is nothing but "programming", basically insinuating the digital nature of reality. Very cool movie.
