Hello,
I'm a man, a husband, a father of children, in my early 40's.
I dropped acid as a youth, travelled to India, got into Hinduism. I was initiated into an obscure lineage, sitting on the banks of the Ganges, by a guy who sometimes spoke English, but most of the time didn't. Sometimes he wore jewels and had money, but most of the time he had none. He used to wear the top of someone else's skull as a hat. Strange guy.
Anyway, that's a bit irrelevant, save to say that my eventful youth has given way to the drudgery of middle age.
I still meditate. I recently started eating psilocybin containing mushrooms after I found them growing in a field near me, but with a wife and kids and living the responsible life I just can't seem to find the time to break off a big taste of the psychedelic experience that I want, if not need.
I have fear and anxiety issues that I feel psychedelics can help me with. Too many years of just getting caught up in myself and work and the little eddies of daily life and the worry and the push and pull of those very close family relationships with wife and kids, and siblings, in-laws, ageing parents, blah blah blah.
What else?
I really dislike cannabis; I'm one of those people who used to smoke a lot but somewhere along the line the relationship turned bad. I don't know why that happened.
I like to drink alcohol. I don't like to drink socially. I like to binge drink on my own. I like to sit in a lonely, desolate place and finish off a bottle of wine or whatever. I find it spiritual, and always have done.
The modest doses of mushrooms I've taken just felt absolutely "right".
I always loved LSD in my teens and early 20's, but lost touch with that crowd. I'd love to get my hands on some, but even if I could find it, when would I have the time?
I am thinking of trying to precipitate some "spice" (as you kids call it?) from out of the ether, at some point. I'm wary, still. It's short duration is attractive, but I do realise it is a very powerful thing.
That's about it for now.
Regards,
Swayambhu

Welcome,

You might want to look for "other" compounds with short durations too.

Sadly most compounds will take a day or two of your life.
LSD, 2CX, DOX, Ayahuasca, Mescaline, Shrooms, will last a day without problem.

Stuff you might want to look into for a "quick" trip that will take maximum an hour or two to fade in and out is following.

Salvia Divinorum
DMT
Nitrous Oxide (This is actually quite trippy when used in the dark with music and closed eyes. It can be combined with most drugs to imrpove the power)

Some psychedelics can be used even when you need to work or be with your family. But its very important that you know the substance before you take it and have tried it out during free time.
I even rode my bike during an LSD trip. I talked to my parents afterwards and they didnt even notice it even though my mind was zooming through space.

Always do your research please. Nowadays many psychelics bought on the street are RCs. Compounds unkown to circumvent laws they are often radically different than their "original" counterparts.

Here is a website with drug information
They also have many drug interaction information. But make sure that you always double check on other websites too there will be mistakes. Its the internet after all.
Erowid is a antoher great source of information and even trip reports.
This website also has its wiki and information. Always ask if you are unsure about something.

I have tried salvia, some years ago. I never felt the need to do it again. A very small dose of enhanced leaf sent me direct into salvia space, without much warning. I found the experience pretty unmoving in its content, but had various beneficial side effects. Perhaps I'll try it again some day?
I'm familiar with RCs. I'm not that old! Having said that, my first encounter with psychedelics was 600 mics of I guess "good" LSD, during which I wandered the streets of central London and had tea with my friends grandparents! I guess I had less to worry about in those days.

Sorry I overlooked this thread for a few days.

Salvia is really something different. How much do you remember of its effects? I like its "mind flushing" effects.
Also sry gramps Big grin

600ug? I dont think most people could speak at that dosage Rolling eyes Normal first dose is 100 or less even. Wut?
I think it might have been good but the dosage is like way overboard ego death territorium.

Also something you might want to look into is Yopo. A DMT analogue containing seed thats can be easily used and hidden. Its quite disputed all around here.

Even 600ug of LSD cant get you over the fact that it was probably still cloudy that day.

Witnessing the apocalyps on a cloudy day...sounds like fun.

Sorry everybody, thanks for your replies- I had figured my introductory "essay" had disappeared beneath the waves like so many introductory posts on internet forums.

Yes- 600ug, I remember not being able to understand most people's speech, I remember witnessing things, not just acts but solid artefacts, that I knew were not real, but there they were. But I guess I was young and my brain was soft and I had little baggage, and it was daytime. I was with my friend, who has also been my lifelong "spiritual friend", and who had quite a bit of experience of high doses and who guided me quite through it. Also, of course, what was sold as 600ugs might not have been 600ugs. It was a "black microdot", for people who remember how these things were in London in the early 90's. Later experiences with things like the various coloured "Om" tabs were more like being very stoned, giggling, foolishness, weird "synchronicity" etc.

It was raining, actually. A warm(ish) spring rain, which emptied out the parks and streets and probably made them more navigable for us. I remember the conker (buckeye) flowers were out, and I first realized that I was tripping because the flowers and leaves had become giant spiders, and I could go right up to them and touch them, and they were still spiders!

Yes- I found that much negative thinking that had been bothering me, including weird middle-of-the-night depressions, were entirely flushed away after my salvo experience.

Hello!
Yes, my name is informed by Swayambhunath the place, also perhaps inspired by some pretentious idea of applying the "Self-Created" condition to myself, which is not something I believe (nor necessarily disbelieve).

I'm not an "Aghori", though my first guru (skull hat), was, sort of.
I personally aspire to a condition of "samatva", "apatheia", or something like that. But I'm certainly not above avoiding the unpleasant!
