First of all I'd like to apologise if I've posted in a section I shouldn't, I don't currently have any access to the area I would have assumed this post goes.

I'm looking to convert the stuff I have to a freebase form for a friend. I've reviewed this method (https://wiki.dmt-nexus.me/Fumarates_to_Freebase_Conversion_TEK) using method 1. There's a few things I'm not too sure on though. There's no real gauge on how much water to add to the solutions... I was planning on trying it with 100mg of DMT first, just in case I made a mistake.

Another thing was "Keep adding the sodium carbonate solution until no more clouding or color changes occur". I'm guessing I have to just keep pouring it in until it stays a consistent cloudy colour.

The other was when putting the container in the fridge, would it be advisable to put a lid on it at all? I'm not sure on whether it's possible or not, or if there's any funky smell that will be left in the fridge.

If I'm not allowed to be making this post, etc, then I do apologise; I'm trying pretty hard to learn here. Hopefully one day I plan to be able to make my own DMT from the first step.

try with just as water as necessary; as a starting point, dissolve the fumarates in 5-10ml of water per 100mg. Add then sodium carbonate-saturated water to the fumarates solution till you see persistent clouding. Adding more (just to be sure) is not going to make any harm.

Cheers mate. I'm still not really sure on whether I should or shouldn't put a lid on the container before placing it inside the fridge; what would you recommend?

lid is always recommended. Same logic applies to pretty much any container you have in your fridge or your house in general; to prevent it from accidentally spilling and to prevent smells from entering or exiting.

this is an old thread; dug it up as i'm interested in this process.
question is, what i have found (old extraction) i am not sure if it is, indeed, fumarate.
would there be any harm in using this tek if it was freebase already?
and is there a way to determine (before the tek) which it is?

Take a tiny piece of unknown material and put a drop of acetone on it. If it dissolves, it's freebase (assuming it's known to be either DMT freebase or fumarate).

Yeah put a drop of water on a bit of it and test the pH. Best thing to do in my opinion is do the paste and pull method with dry alcohol of some sort, ideally pure ethanol, if not isopropyl. It's so easy and efficient. Once you've pulled seal the jar and put it in the freezer any sodium carbonate that has gone through into the small ammount of water content will precipitate out.
Remove from freezer, decant solution and evaporate slowly and if youre lucky and if the alkaloids are mainly DMT you will get nice shards that can be scraped up. Most likely you will get a clear oil or a goo depending on the plant used, the initial extraction procedure, the speed of evaporation and the
purity of the first extract. Let us know how you get on.
