This was my second attempt at extracting DMT freebase from MHRB , a la the lazyman tek (a straight-to-base method).
For those of you who missed my earlier report this week, my first attempt failed, with the final freeze-precipitation yielding only a orangey-yellow, oily goo that may or may not have had DMT in it but certainly was quite disgusting to smoke, and did not get me high, either due to lack of DMT or my own inabilities with a vaporizer.
I changed a few things this time, namely:
-Did not heat the Naphtha for the pulls, or put the mix in a hot-water bath - the entire procedure was carried out at room temp. There was some speculation that heating the mix/Naphtha last time resulted in more plant fats moving over to the naphtha.
-Let the entire mix (lye,, water, MHRB , first Naphtha pull) sit undisturbed for about four full days before siphoning off the Naphtha to evaporate.
-Chucked the freeze-precip - it might work for some people, but for me it was too tricky, since I wasn't sure if my freezer was cold enough or if my Naphtha-DMT solution was concentrated enough. This time I decided simply to evaporate the Naphtha down to nothing using a fan and a pyrex dish.
Overview of the entire process:
1.Mixed the following ingredients together all at once:
-750 mL tap water
-75+ g. lye (NaOH)
-50 g. finely shredded/powdered root bark
-~50 mL Naphtha
-~200 mL lye/water/rootbark mix from first extract attempt (already had been extracted but may have contained more DMT since I never got any the first time. Mostly added this in order to get the following ingredient in there as well)
-25 mL Naphtha that had been floating in the first extraction for about two days (after two pulls were already completed)
2.Shook well and let mixture sit in 1L glass bottle for four full days undisturbed
3. Removed Naphtha with a turkey baster and placed in pyrex dish
4. Evaporated with fan - a small amount of the Naphtha also might have spilled out - it's a long story.
Ended up with about 10 distinct circles/flakes of yellowy-white crystals...not very much but I wasn't expecting very much from 50 g. of MHRB on the first pull. Don't have an accurate enough scale to weigh it out yet, so I can't tell you the final weight.
I still have the lye/water/rootbark mix sitting around and when I get the chance/money to buy more Naphtha I will put another 100 mL Naphtha in, let it sit for a few days, and evap again to see if I can pull some more out.
I seem to have a decent tek down, at least one that works for me and actually yields crystals. Next I am planning a 350g. extraction in a one-gallon milk jug... I will take pics and write up a detailed report now that I'm fairly certain it will work.
