I think it's better if one has smoked DMT prior to exploring ayahuasca, though this is just my opinion.
Psychotoria viridis is the original banisteriopsis caapi admixture, either that or Diplopterys cabrerana, these are the two admixture plants that form the original south American ayahuasca. (Tetrapteris methistica and other admixture plants could also be found in Amazonian ayahuasca. It's a plant that I hold in very high regard, and have a good deal of respect for.
It takes between 30-70g psychotoria viridis per person in a brew...This is with 50g or more banisteriopsis caapi, or 3g peganum harmala per person.
I think MHRB brews are horrible tasting, but they can very effective when brewed properly...
Acacia confusa root bark makes better ayahuasca analogues than MHRB, in my mind, the ACRB has a more "indole" taste and smell to it, it's still disgusting, but it's easier for me to drink than MHRB...
I think ayahuasca is something you must build a relationship with, and that most who just want a quick and easy "trip" are destined to fail with the decoction.
Education is more important than anything, research these plants, learn their history, learn of the people's who use them, learn of how these people use them, learn the lore surrounding these plants, learn the botanical and chemical details of these plants, you must really form a relationship with the ayahuasca.
Quote:testimony is that magic is alive in hyperspace. It is not necessary to believe me, only to form a relationship with these hallucinogenic plants.
I will add a cautionary note. I always feel odd telling people to verify my observations since the sine qua non is the hallucinogenic plant. Experimenters should be very careful. One must build up to the experience. These are bizarre dimensions of extraordinary power and beauty. There is no set rule to avoid being overwhelmed, but move carefully, reflect a great deal, and always try to map experiences back onto the history of the race and the philosophical and religious accomplishments of the species. All the compounds are potentially dangerous, and all compounds, at sufficient doses or repeated over time, involve risks. The library is the first place to go when looking into taking a new compound. -terence mckenna
