I'm having a problem with tlc. When I make the spot small, it gives 2 spots (using ipa, hexane, gaa, ethyl acetate, 2:2:.5:12). One spot is at .2 and the other .8. They are too little to show up with uv but they do show up with erhlich's. However, if I put enough on the original spot so that you can see using uv, there's a spot at 0 and 1.

Any explanations as to what's going on?

Thanks.

I suppose you are talking about testing a DMT-containing extract? From what plant is it?

Depending on what plant it is, I'd bet it is NMT, which very often appears together with DMT.

If you can get 25% ammonia and methanol, you can make the same eluent i've been using for my tests and use this Rf calculator to help with your tests.
