DET is a 2-4 hour drug...

According to bear and his anecdotes, DET causes a two hour DMT experiance...

it would be a combination DET/DMT experiance...unless the DET was taken under its active dose (50mgs) and was acting on monoamine oxidase in some way...

I'm trying to get the full text of the abstract below...
Quote:
Abstract
The monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibiting action of diethyltryptamine (DET) and its derivatives was studied with serotonin and tryptamine as substrates. A marked difference was found between the inhibitory power of DET and of the DET analogues and also in the types of inhibition. A significant change in the degree of inhibition was observed after the serotonin had been replaced by tryptamine. Zeller's recent enzyme-complex hypothesis was used to explain the discrepancies in inhibitory power called forth by a slight change in the structure of the inhibitor or that of the substrate.

As much as we all want DMT to last so long, or to have that 2-4 hour experience, I think we can also tend to take for granted the short nature of the DMT experience. I've only smoked DIPT (the auditory one) once, and I took one hit, and the very immediate effects were unpleasant. Although the unpleasantness passed rather quickly, the experience was six hours long from taking one hit. If I were in a bad DMT experience for that duration, I would probably never want to go back.

Thanks.

So, would DET be sufficient as an MAOI? Could DET act as an MAOI in sub-active dose?

I'll do some research and return to this topic.
