Hello all,

I finally managed to pull together enough time to try my hand at making non-orange-goo DMT, and ended up with some rather pretty (though tiny) little crystals..

I was wondering what techniques were being used to get some of thr 300+mg beauties I've seen around...Is using a much larger amount of plant material necessary? How many mini-AB/defats do you use (with ACRB)? Does using vinegar instead of some other acid pose any problems? Is calcium hydroxide better than the sodium hydroxide I use?

To get my crystals, I basically used cyb's (wonderful) tek combined with the earthwalker tek's mini-AB cleanup steps on 50g of ACRB.. Also microwaved the bark instead of boiling for hours (thank you AcaciaConfusedYah for your MAD tek).

I put the crystals in an artight container with a silica gel desiccant and some powdered zinc...Is this sufficient to preserve them indefinitely?

Thanks!

Can't really help with growing bigger crystals I'm afraid, but I just wanted to say how nice the ones you have made already do look :-)

Those crystals do look nice! I wouldn't bother recrystallising them, as you will probably lose a lot of the goods in the process.

In the past I have grown crystals in a couple ways. You can very slowly decrease the temp of your solvent by starting off with a cool fan, then do a fridge/freezer cycle by passing your container from one to the other every hour or so. The second method I have used is to very slowly evaporate your saturated solution. I did so by putting it in a glass tupperware bowel and then opening the corner of the lid very slightly. You could also cover with plastic-wrap and poke a couple small holes in it.

A seed crystal is really helpful too, but I have yet to try one out.

Good luck!

The key points of growing large crystals are as follows:

- Feedstock of some very pure DMT
- seed crystal on a string
- SLOW & undisturbed evaporation of solvent over a long period of time
- relatively large amount of solvent in relation to the amount of DMT used
