Many people were saying lately that it's safe to eat products from "MAOI ban list" with Caapi because Caapi isn't the same as pharmacy MAOI.

So I tried 6g Caapi alone at 6pm (18:00), got very relaxed, increased mood and very good sleep afterwards.

Then few days after I tried 6g of Caapi at 6pm (18:00) + chocolate + bananas. Tried to sleep at 11pm but got insomnia and racing thoughts. Stood up at 3am (03:00) because of insomnia and ate 1 more banana. Right after 10 minutes I felt that my heart beat rate is increasing. Not too much but definitely noticeable. Then I was finally able to sleep but sleep wasn't deep and the next morning I was feeling not so good.

So be careful, I would better avoid those products when I drink Caapi brew.

You are quite right, harmalas are no candies. They can greatly sensitize the body to foodstuffs and other influences we would otherwise consider harmless. The best example is eating dmt, which would normally yield no effects.

When people want to experiment with "casual" or "medicinal" (other than for specific "functional" aya/pharma/dmt vape potentiation) harmala dosing, I strongly urge to start with very low doses and be meticulously mindful about food intake and interactions as they might appear. When already into high doses of harmalas, all other foodstuffs should be treated as "new" and unknown and tried at low doses.

Some people seem to report less interactions than others, which may be related to personal differences in genetically determined metabolic traits.

Once I smoked Caapi Leaves with maybe 20mg of 22:1 HCL Syrian Rue Extract while on Kratom and my heart just went crazy for good 20 minutes. A bit scary, but nothing life threatening.

On other hand - eating chocolate bars or even salami pizza after the same extract (200-400mg orally) just made my guts going inside out for 2-3 hours. I would blame salami since, there's not much actual chocolate in chocolate bars.

When I'm microdosing Caapi (1/10, 1/5 of clearly active dose made in THP) I'm not drinking coffee and alcohol (I'm not drinking it even when I'm off Caapi to be honest), but I'm not going for any special diet. Banana smoothie or strong cheese never turned any dangerous reaction.

I drink Ayahuasca a few times a month and always have bananas with it. I'm drinking way more then 6 grams of caapi too! Bananas are probably the most common food to be had before and after ceremony in the Amazon. They create no issues.

I think it is more likely that something else caused your racy heart rate and that you are attaching your own reasons to it. Could be many things.

There is not one single recorded case of a dangerous food interaction with Ayahuasca. Something to think about.

With bananas its the peel thats not suited to consume with MAOIs, its because of the high tyramine content.

I've eaten massive amounts of bananas before, during, and after taking harmalas literally hundreds of times without complications. There are individual differences, but it was more likely that it was something else causing your inability to sleep.

I can see a solid amount of cacao doing that with a full dose of harmalas, but I doubt it with only 6 grams of caapi. That's a tiny amount of harmalas.

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"
