I'm still ignorant in this area, so please don't mind any stupid questions. Razz

Months ago, now, I REMOVED 100 grams of Acacia Confusa bark. However, to be imported, it had to processed with heat treatment for around 8 hours at a temperature of 85 Celsius. I can't fully remember the details, nor can I find the exact details on the Australian government agriculture website.

I assume it likely that the DMT would still be intact, and suitable for proper extraction?

Many thanks in advance! Smile

Should be in salt form if i am not mistaken so it is probably OK. Luckily you live in a region where many Acacia species grow well. Look into a variety that has DMT in the phyllodes (floribunda?)and you will be golden.
Marijuana, LSD, psilocybin, and DMT they all changed the way I see

Thanks, skoobysnax! I'll just give extraction a shot and see how it goes. Smile

Yeah, I live in Australia... but I know precious little about plants, nor have I really had the presence of mind to be able to care over the past few months. In time, I will have the energy to invest more time to the wonderful study. Smile

DMT is naturally in salt form in the plants because of plant acids (for example dmt tannate or oxalate due to tannic or oxalic acid being present in some plants). When people extract DMT, they can make it in freebase form to smoke, because DMT in salt form can't be smoked, it has high boiling point and breaks down instead of vaporizing efficiently. Some salt forms like DMT fumarate can even be toxic to smoke due to creation of maleic anhydride during combustion. -dmt nexus faq

Are they trying to destroy potential foreign fungi, molds, insects and insect eggs, etc...with this heat treatment?

I know you don't have the first amendment down under, but if you can get a copy of TIHKAl by Alexander shulgin you would have a complete list of DMT containing acacias in your region (as well as a complete list of nearly all DMT containing plants...

only the chemistry sections are available online, so you would actually have to buy the book.

https://en.wikipedia.org..._of_psychoactive_plants

The "tryptamine" section of this Wikipedia page gives you a Full list with pictures as well as the region the plant goes in...

"Wattle" means acacia down there right? If a tree is called "maidens wattle" and you see that a tree called "acacia maidenii" contains DMT, then you know "maidens wattle" is a DMT containing species...

Good luck,

Yeah. Well, at least, that's what is claimed... customs can be a pain.

Thanks, eg. I'm looking into buying the book.

Thanks for the interesting links, skoobysnax! I'll check them out soon.

If the DMT is in salt form, then I doubt it may have been harmed much, if at all. FASA seems like the best method, especially because I live in a small apartment.
