Hello Nexus,

a friend of mine recently got into exploring the extraction process of DMT from MHRB. And she is very excited. She had a successful attempt with lazyman's tek on a shredded rootbark and now tried to go with powdered rootbark but the endresult was something she does not understand and couldn't find any solution so far.

Some similar situation was found here (https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=52579), but the mentioned solutions don't apply to her approach.

So here is what happened:
100g NaOH mixed into 1L demineralized water
100g powdered MHRB added into the mix and let it soak for 2 days with occasional stiring.

After two days the mix was put in a pot of water that stood on a hotplate.

50ml Petroleum Naphtha was added and the mixture was heated between 50-55°C(120-130°F).
Frequent stiring for about 45 minutes in that hot bath. No emulsion build up. The layers stayed seperated.

The cloudy solvent was then separted with a pipette into a pyrex container and frozen for 20h.

Instead of nice crystals some sort of wax layer formed at the bottom that smells like DMT after evaporating all the Naphtha.

Since my friend is new to this process she is now unsure if this is still all the good stuff even without crystals or if this is some sort of mix that might need some cleaning.

Or what is this in general?

She'll appreciate any advice or information on this.

Thanks!

Looks fine to me, sometimes it can be goo, xtals and/or wax. In fact the fluffy xtals are waxy to the touch and smear rather easily. You could always scrape all that up and do a re-xtal but I don't think it's necessary it really should be fine as is. I use a combination of that same tek and Cybs on acrb, and usually end up with all 3 variations.

yep, I agree with SO2. When you evaporate your solvent, especially with a fan, you are likely to end up with a waxy substance. A slow evap over the course of a couple days can sometimes lead to a more crystalline product, but not always. The best way to get crystals is through freeze precipitation over the course of 24-48 hours. I actually bought a mini fridge/freezer for about $120 specifically for freeze precipitation. It was definitely a worthwhile investment.

Nothing wrong with the wax, but it is fun to gawk at crystals! If you are worried about any impurities, a re-x in hot heptane works wonders.

Good luck and happy extracting!

Looks totally fine, some wax comes with it but in my experience is extremely potent. Looks like a great yield for one pull from 100g bark!

In general the longer you leave the solvent in and higher you heat it the more orange/yellow it becomes. There is no need to heat the whole soup or leave it for that long but I defer to more knowledgeable ones here on that.

I find I get a similar result to this when I don't clean the last little miniscule scrape marks and what not off my baking dish before doing a pull. Even if freeze precipitation was done! Same stuff, difference appearance!

^ this.
I have also noticed you get very fine powdery results when you stick hot solvent pulls right into the freezer with no time to cool.

Thank you for the feedback guys. She is very pleased to hear this answers. And yes she was very satisfied with the yield for a first pull(620mg) of 100g MHRB. She just wasn't sure if this is only all the sutff where the magic happens.

She also confirms that it was very fine powdery after scraping it of the dish, but she likes this texture a lot, so she will just continue with this method and see how it will work out, seems to be all good so far. Given the yield it seems that the temperature adjustment in the hot bath just works great and the endresult was just a miniscule nuance of orange, so she will try to keep the temperature down by a couple degrees, not too much though, as it was still very white-ish.

Thank you guys Thumbs up
