So SWIM just purchased online a cool new distiller which was modified from a water distiller, from this he plans to make some absinthe. Researching this for some time he found that traditional absinthe never really contained much thujone which is the chemical in the main ingredient wormwood which is thought to be active. It turns out whatever effects from absinthe there are are most likely from some synergy of all the various herbs. Looking at how to make it I found that the herb soaked alcohol is strained and distilled then a few herbs are used for coloring and modifying taste, usually with no wormwood at this stage. This to me makes it questionable how much is being distilled with the herbs. Since my experience with absinthe effects is extremely limited it makes me wonder what psychoactive effects there really are with absinthe.

This makes me think that thujone is not really the active chemical in absinthe at all since he has made wormwood resin extracts with iso. This has been interesting with definite hallucinatory properties, to the point of seeing green leafy creatures for half a second. This was a pretty enjoyable state of mind, sort of like a psychedelic cocaine without the energy and very mellow. The main problem with this extract is that you may have to smoke a pretty decent amount of this stuff and the taste can be pretty weird at best, wormwood is extremely bitter, for this reason you can only add so much to absinthe and have it still be drinkable.

Looking into this further i found that Salvia Officianalis has much higher thujone rates and as it is common cooking sage it doesnt have the same god awful taste. SWIM plans on experimenting to see how good a smoking extract this would make and also will probably add some to the absinthe he plans to make after the distilation.

With this new handy still, SWIM wonders what he could use it for besides pot, thujone and salvia divinorum soft extracts. Could the still be used to make DMT fumarate? What would happen to DMT that was allow to evaporate in a distiller with some naptha? It would be nice if SWIM could keep reusing my solvents. DMT wouldnt crystalize but would this work? Are there any other extractions or kinds of alchemy people can recommend SWIM try with his still? SWIM hasnt really looked into this but couldnt syrian rue extraction work better with a distiller? Are there any plants that people could suggest SWIM adds to drinkable tinctures? SWIM is thinking about blue lotus, sinicuichi, wild dagga, yohimbe and possibly some peruvian torch or woodrose seeds, pot could be nice if SWIM had a nice supply but he doesnt.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Also keep in mind Thujone has some very interesting properties. Wormwood definitely has enough. It allows a person to seemingly drink far more alcohol than they normally would be able to. You can experience a drunk unlike ever before without being totally mashed.
Sorry I can't be of more help, just wanted to point that out+
(For all my drunken friends, puff on some white sage :]

I have smoked salvia apiana and officinalis from my garden..white sage(apiana) is def the strongest. I can get a clearing sort of effect off one hit. Only tried it a few times though..I smoked it with spice once though and it was kinda weird feeling..

I dont really drink alcohol at all, havent for months..I dont really enjoy it(a small galss of wine with cannabis isnt bad though), and I have strict orders from my doctor to not touch it for at least 1 year becasue of food allergies..but I am looking into putting together some type of alcoholic drink with yarrow flowers and leaves, mullein roots and dandelion roots I collected locally, and some sage from my garden, peppermint, cannabis, and even a bit of opium if I can get some poppies..wont be able to test if for a long while though..I also want to try with bufotenine..

I think that alot of the old drinks of europe were stronger on the psychoactive effects of the herbs than of the alcohol, for what they were using them for..I think it was pilsner that used to have henbane or something added??

edit..I hear alot about anise as an additive to many old absynth brews..maybe adding euphoria or something..maybe nutmeg as well..I think the old recipes prob contained a nice list of herbs..
Long live the unwoke.

Ya some absinthe recipies also have calamus in them. SWIM definitely wouldnt mind the opium, he has the seeds but nowhere to grow them.

The plan is to make a drink that is more of a high then a drunk.

I dont know where i would get some salvia apiana unless it was online. I think i would rather just make an extract from officianalis since its so cheap and i can buy it from the grocery store.

There is also peppermint in some absinthe which reminds me of what i hear about that herb converting LSA to LSH. There must be some synergy with all these herbs. I will definitely add nutmeg, but will the powder form sold as spice work? or does it have to be fresh for more psychoactive effects?

thujone may be a neurotoxin so be careful with concentrated solutions. The amounts found in plants like salvia officinalis and even wormwood aren't that high. but concentrated essential oils can easily can dangerous.
