Hi I done my 1st freeze prec the other day. Its been in the freezer for about 3 days now, about 150ml of naptha in a small jar with rubber seal. I dont know if its DMT or ice floating in the jar. All stuck to the bottom and the sides I presume will be spice.... but theres white like crystals floating all around the naptha... similar to that of the fake snow in a snow globe.

So I dont know how to drain off the liquid since it might be full of spice.... or if I should just evaporate it all???

Thanks for any info!

That's also happened to me and I think it's due to not saturating the solvent enough through evaporation before freezing. I'd usually drain off the liquid slowly trying to keep as much of the floaters in the bowl as possible, drying whats left over and evaporating what was left in the liquid - you'll usually yield decently high because of all the other oils/impurities which don't get carried through the freeze precipitate but still effect the experience in a unique way. If your after crystals you can simply dissolve the left over goo from the evaporation into a minimal amount of warm solvent and try freeze again, making sure to get rid of the impurities before freezing of course.

No need to worry about pouring off a few mysterious floaters.

Most people would suggest you reuse your naphtha thus any dmt remaining in it will be in your next extraction and freeze precip.

If it is water then it will rejoin your base, water solution.
Give the spice a little smile... and cross the veil in style.

I'm also trying my first freeze precipitiation... after doing jorkests tek and getting a pretty good yield I decided to split the basified mix (dmt+fumaric acid+sodium carbonate) into two; the first I dissolved in acetone as per the tek (got about 1.2g jungle spice from that Smile), and the 2nd I dissolved in some warm Naptha, as Warrensaged described: I repeated 3 times, decanting each time, filtered the combined naptha, left out for a couple hours, then put in the fridge for about 12 hrs, then into the freezer where it has been for a little over 24 hrs .. when I checked this morning, there was not a lot going on.. I thought I could see some cloudy white formations but not sure.. I had moved it from a little glass dish to a jar last night, and I swear I can see some tiny crystals left on the glass dish, but they are really tiny.

I wonder, smokeydaze if you are right - maybe I need to evaporate the naptha off a bit to make the solution more saturated?
Maybe I'm just being impatient... gonna check again when I get home tonight. Perhaps my freezer is not cold enough??

I must say the smell and feel of naptha is so different to limonene! It feels kinda dirty.. my friend said it makes the place smell of mothballs! But I'm really curious to try the pure stuff, as some say it makes for a more immersive/interactive journey than the full jurema "jungle" extraction.

pre evaporating naphtha is specially recommended if the pulls were big. If one uses many small warm pulls, then one doesnt have to evaporate down so much. As said, do reuse your naphtha so that any remaining dmt will be picked up again.

I am currently evaporating my naphtha, as I checked again and at most I have a few tiny tiny crystals on the bottom of the jar... after almost 48 hrs now. I'm not enjoying the fumes though I must say (maybe evaping in a dehydrator is not a good idea..?)
I will wait till its about half evaporated and try freezing again.

Ok I drained off the naptha and got a decent amount of DMT considering it was 2nd pull from 50gms of bark. The flakes that were in the solution have dissolved, dont know if it was DMT yet or not just going to let it evaporate.

Another question... The DmT I got from this method just looks the same as what I got from evaporation... I was expecting white crytals this time... but their yellow.

I used http://www.bartoline.co....mp;Group=Solvent%20Range as naptha... is this why im getting yellow substance or is it because I didnt do PH method.

Also this naptha was left on the bark/lye solution for about 2 months... just left it in a cupboard basically since the last pull.

Thanks again for replies Smile

I used Bartoline during my first extraction and had poor results. It is "hydortreated heavy" which makes freeze precipitation almost impossible. It also tends to pull more than spice. I now use Ronsonol lighter fluid, as its light naphtha. If you live in the UK you can buy it from any corner shop. I hope that helps...

Or you could try Perma Fluid, made by Ronson (basically the same stuff as Ronsonol) which you can get in most quid shops or if you live near a warehouse - much cheaper. Swim pays £8 for 1.2L (12 cans).

My first Freeze Precip produced no crystals but plenty of white floating snow Smile. I personally would rather have this since all I had to do was pour the naptha through a filter. Then I took the bandana I used with the white powder on it and set it on a fan that was pointed to the ground so it would allow air to flow through it and the naptha would evaporate rather quickly. Then I all I had to do was put it away for safe keeping. I've never had to worry about scraping crystals off the inside of the jar.
