Honestly I don't know why you would ever want to extract ephedra. The only reason I know of to ever want to do so would be to make some meth, which is not something discussed here at the nexus.
Plus, ephedrine and pseudoephedrine, the main alkaloids, are kind of dangerous. If you do end up doing this and just using the ephedrine and psuedoephedrine be careful to not take too much. I have no idea what a good dose of either of those are.
Or, use the plant in its traditional form and just make tea from it. Again I don't know dosage and would advise caution with this route too.
