I really like what everybody has to say on this thread regarding the OP so far...
Taking a break is always a good thing.
And as Jees mentioned, accepting each journey for just what it is, no more no less is an important lesson. If you have a difficult time accepting whatever comes your way with a calm, non-judgemental, observant awareness, perhaps you need more meditation practice. Just a thought...
I would personally like to add that I have had a small number of very dark DMT journeys myself. Sometimes I would employ the meditation practices that were drilled into me as a young man & as mentioned in the preceding paragraph, I would simply just be & observe in an impartial state of awareness.
However, the last two that I experienced that were like that (this was approximately a year ago or less), I chose to sing out loud & that alone immediately (as in a split-second) change the trip into something much more beautiful. It was quite the revelation as you would imagine...You mean I can actually change the entire course of the trip that dramatically just by producing sound from my diaphragm & throat?
Too wierd!!! Too awesome!!!
Freedom's so hard
When we are all bound by laws
Etched in the scheme of nature's own hand
Unseen by all those who fail
In their pursuit of fate
