I posted this elsewhere but never got a reply. Is this a trichocereus? And if so what type?

Nope, a Trichocereus would have hairy flower buds. Thats actually what the name means.

If I were walking through a garden shop the stem in that first pic would grab my attention too, next I'd look for the "V-notches" that occur in the skin above the areoles of real trichs.
