Swim was wondering if this would be suitable as a defatting or extraction solvent?? Has anybody had experience with this?? Swim has done an evaporation test and it leaves no residues behind. Swims in Australia, is this the same Zippo fluid as elsewhere?? Swim tried to evaporate shellite and it leaves a slight oily residue behind. Is this normal?? The brand is Recochem. Swim was planning to use the new Acacia Tek in this forum. Acid extraction has been done on the bark (Acacia [i:9eb6e4f2b5]maidenii[/i:9eb6e4f2b5]). What other option's are available in Australia?? Any body's help or advice would be very much appreciated.. Cheers.

Recochem brand Camping fuel in Canada is almost pure heptane with fractions of hexane and it works just fine.Any slight bit of oily residue will never get into your spice if you freeze precipitate as the DMT will crash out of solution but the oil won't.The only time you need a solvent to evap 100% clean is if you are gonna evap it all and scrape up the crystals of majic that remain.I use recochem brand all the time and I tell you after three or four recrystalizations it is clean enough to sniff. In other words use the freeze precipitate method instead of evapping. I tried to say no to drugs but they wouldn't listen

it may be ok for freezing but its a defo no no for evaporating.my 2 pence of advice to any evaporaters out ther is stay away from all lighter fuels, but then again maybe you could clean it afterwards,i dont know mutch about cleaning it,but if that yellow gunk can be totaly cleaned off then it would save a lot of cash. you may think my hat is funny but i dont,im the grand wazzoo keeper of the mystic scrobe.

ZIPPO is not clean and does not extract well. I wouldn't smoke anything prepared with it... stick to lab -grade solvents , for your lungs' and brain's sake.

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone in the UK who knows of an alternative to lighter fluid for extracting with. The reason being it costs £1 for 100ml which very quickly adds up to too much. Brand names, product types, anything would be helpful. Thanks.

Canadian Ronsonol brand seems really clean and leaves no residues - costing no more than $5 for 375 ml. http://www.amazon.com/Ro...189587323&sr=1-1 http://www.hardwarestore.com/media/msds/226357.pdf but then notice, "ethyl benzene" at 0.1-0.2%...!?

Zippo is a fuckin expensive brand. I use Newport lighter fluid and it's quarter of the prize of Zippo fluid and evaporates without residue. I haven't tried Zippo but it can't be better but it's just expensive. ––––––

I have found it to be ok for extraction and defatting but not xtalization. The regular ronson leaves oil residue upon evap but seems ok for freeze percipt. They may vary batch to batch so I test every new container.

[quote:b4c23b8c3c="XAN"]stick to lab -grade solvents , for your lungs' and brain's sake.[/quote:b4c23b8c3c] unless one is actually in a lab I would think those would be harder to come by. I could be wrong however, it wouldnt be the first time. To stb or not to stb, that is the extraction.

I have one that says the ingrediants are naptha and petroleum distillate. It's King lighter fluid. Is this okay?

Does anyone have any idea if a pH rising water treatment would work as the base? Swim's hardware store owner thinks he's a psychotic drug manufactorer based on his past purchases, so he's looking at options to purchase from a general store. Possibilities: Acids: Vinager, aquarium pH lowerer, naptha. Base/solvent: Rubbing alcohol (ethyl or isopropenol), aquarium pH riser. Which of these would work?

Problem with the new zippo is it doesn't yield as much (also seemed to extract more oils) and it takes longer for the crystals to fall out when freezing. and for evaporate its very very slow and not too clean. There is a long post about it on another 'drug' forum i frequent.

... "petri" dish ... Dorito1212 .. apparently you have some studying to do.! And by 'studying' I mean more than just reading the labels on things, like solvent bottles and aquarium parapharnelia - understand everything about the tek you choose, and don't cut corners. You'll thank god for this forum - since it's a good place to start studying !... Oh and save some money too, to get what you actually need... Shop around to find things, you're in no hurry... Definately NO to alcohols - they are not 'non-polar' solvents... Stick with pure NaOH (lye) as a 'pH raising' agent ... KOH would work, but it's way more expensive. I have no idea what's in that fish-tank pH adjuster, probabaly carbonate salts (Na2HCO3..?), so I'd say nay to McGuiver-ing with the chemistry of these teks..!

I personally use zippo lighter fluid to clean a lot of different stuff. It's pretty inexpensive and it removes tape gum, sticker glue, grease and many other tough to remove substances. I found a place online a while back for stuff for my RV and noticed their great selection of zippo stuff. zippo fluid, zippo flints, zippo wicks. You should use only premium Zippo brand products for your Zippo lighter. Don't get burned by knockoffs or Gasoline!
