So I've been pursuing Psychonautics for around 2 years now, with some fairly major success. My perspective of reality, the self, and so forth have been greatly enhanced. I feel a lot more in the moment, and generally much happier than prior. I still have bouts of sadness, but when I do I am more aware of what and why. I've gained a lot of emotional intelligence, to say the least.

Anyways, I've been a casual browser of the nexus for a while, as I love researching and learning about (at least based off my human perception) the most mysterious and strange occurrences in the known universe; The Psychedelic experience.

Around 3 weeks ago, I found DMT, and it found me. HERE is a trip report of my experience.

I'm still in awe as to what happened, and I may be returning to those realms sometime soon, but I really have no clue. This stuff is powerful, and it is profound.

Anyways, I'm glad to have come across it. I'm glad that I've wound up in a life that has the capacity and will to travel this deep. I wish everyone had the bravery to, but I understand that this is probably far too intense for many humans in their current state of mind.

I'm glad to be among all of you other Psychonauts, and I wish you all the best of luck on your journeys! Good vibes and stay safe Smile

Here's some information about me, for any of you who wish to know:
-I'm 18, 19 in january (young, I know, but I am cautious)
-I have a profound love for the universe, which I'm sure almost all of you guys do as well Very happy !
-My biggest passion is music production. I've been learning a lot and practice daily. I'm almost done my first album, which I'm excited for. I've been improving a ton recently. My dream is to someday have the capacity to produce music similar to that of Carbon Based Lifeforms, Tipper, and others.
-I've been into psychedelics for just under 2 years. I started with cannabis, followed by tons of research, which led to 7 Salvia experiences before my first Psilocybin mushroom experience. I experienced very intense ego death on my second mushroom experience.
-I live in British Columbia, Canada.
-I'm unsure of what I truly wish to do with life, but I know that music is among one of the things. I also wish to eventually create an entirely self-sustainable lifestyle. I've been considering studying things such as Neuroscience, Philosophy, and other subjects.
-Only just started my first break from Cannabis after smoking fairly steadily, 2-14 times a week, for around 2 years.
-I quit smoking cigarettes around 8 months ago Thumbs up ! A horrible vice which I got into at the very start of my cannabis adventures due to poppers (Tobacco + Weed in a bong). Loved the headrush, and eventually fell into addiction.

I'm looking forward to learning and contributing to this wonderful community!

Hi

I have also just done my intro essay and am of similar age, its cool to have someone who is also quite young on here.

Do you have any samples of your music I could listen to? Would you say the psychedelics have altered your music style?

Also may I ask how you smoke your DMT?

GG
Have a good day!

Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

Welcome to the Nexus!

Music production is a pretty serious hobby of mine as well. In fact, living without music would seem a little empty. I use FL Studio to record my music and I do a mixture of instrumental recordings and synths. Do you have a soundcloud account or anything like that? I'm always interested in hearing other people's work. The music I make these days could be considered acoustic/mellow/psychedelic/alternative or something along those lines. I am also apart of a local rap group. I can't share the name here because it would give away too much personal information about myself which isn't allowed here. But we perform locally at bars and clubs and occasionally go out of town for shows. It isn't enough for me to quit my day job but maybe someday...Very happy

Congrats on quitting cigs btw, man! That is one tough habit to kick, I'm currently cig free for about a year now and it feels amazing! ... ...

Anyway, if you are interested you can find my music in two places:

I started a thread here at the nexus: The Dream Walk (Original Tunes Written and Performed By The Grateful One)

Which links to my soundcloud account: https://soundcloud.com/too-many-mind

Have a nice day!

GingerGeorge:

I'll check out your intro! Psychedelics have greatly influenced my style Very happy! HERE'S the only current song I have released, and it's kind of teaser for my upcoming album "A Strange Reality."

I used to have a bunch of music out, but none of them were anything super special. Standard amateur stuff haha. I've become a lot more serious recently, and I've deleted everything to pave way for a more professional era of musical creation Smile

The Grateful One:

It's wonderful, and I dream to someday be able to create something as beautiful as CBL, Tipper, Solar Fields, Ott, etc. I know I have it in me, it's just a matter of mastering the tools. I also use FL Studio. I'm trying to get into using real instruments and vocals but for now it's all synthesized as I don't have a crazy budget currently.

Congrats on quitting to you too man! I wish more people really pursued it, it's such a nasty habit. The feeling is so amazing to really be free from that vice. Your body really rewards you Smile.

The only released song I have is decent, and is kinda an unmastered teaser/music video thing for my upcoming album. I'm very excited Smile.

I'm checking out your stuff right now!

Hey thanks man! And to answer your question, yes, I do all the parts from scratch. The guitar and vocal parts are played and recorded by me. Bass/drums/synths/sound fx are all from FL's built in instruments. I've been working with FL Studios since version 5. It took a long time to learn how to make it sound decent. I only own one cheap microphone, a fender strat, a Yamaha acoustic guitar, and a Zoom H4 Handy Recorder (Zoom is great for personal home recordings and not too expensive depending on what you get). My next investment will be a decent MIDI keyboard so I can play all the synth parts instead of putting in every painstaking note one at a time...I'm sure you know how time consuming that can be...Very happy

But yeah, I just do all this in my spare time. Hopefully one day it will take me somewhere but for now I am content with building up a personal music library.

Awesome good to hear! How much is your setup? I really wanna get a recorder so I'm able to sample sounds I find out in nature because I absolutely love adventuring Smile. MIDI keyboards are so useful, I have a friend who has one but has never once used it that might sell it to me. That's quite a long time, I can't remember which version I've been working since, but I've been doing it as a random hobby for ~4 years and only in the last 6 months have I really tried to get good.

What kind of music do you enjoy? I have an absolutely massive music collection (mostly psychedelic, too) and can point you to some artists if you want?

Well, lets see:

FL Studios 12 Signature Addition (I just purchased it as a Christmas present for myself...was using a cracked version since version 5 but I figured it was time to not do that anymore, Big grin ) : $265 on amazon as of now.

1 MXL Large Diaphragm Condenser Cardioid Microphone + cables/phantom power/stand/pop filter = +/- $150

1 Yamaha acoustic guitar bought about 3 years ago: $325

1 Fender Stratocaster w/cables and strap : $1200 (this guitar is my absolute pride and joy. Saved my pennies for quite a while before being able to get this beauty )

1 Zoom H4 Handy recorder : +/- $200. I bought this years and years ago and it was more expensive then.

1 Line 6 Spider IV with 2x10in speakers : $400

TOTAL: $2,540

Now, I know that seems like a lot but I've been saving and buying equipment systematically for years. I don't make anywhere near enough money to drop $2,500 in one place that is for sure. Also, this would be considered a low end setup by anyone in the actual music industry. I have some cheap studio monitors too but I forgot to include them.

As to what kind of music I enjoy...anything except for country music. Big grin

I mean, I respect all those artists and what they do but something about country music just doesn't vibe with me for some reason. But my influences and bands I enjoy the most include:

Pink Floyd
David Gilmour's Solo work
The Beatles
Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin
Porcupine Tree
The Bee Gees
The Doors
Joe Satriani
Bill Withers
Big Star
Michael Jackson / Jackson 5
Incubus
Eminem
Tech 9
Jomeezius the Genius (The guy, or one of the guys, who makes beats for Tech Nine)
Envy On The Coast
Paulson
Blink-182
A Day To Remember
Mayday Parade

... ... ... ...

There are obviously many more but the list is essentially endless! I really enjoy the sound from the 60's and 70's more than any other decades. However, I wouldn't mind hearing some new music so I always enjoy being pointed in new directions.

Smile

This is an exciting discussion for me! Thank you for existing somewhat close to my reality Laughing !

I'm using a pirated version of FL Studio, but I'm also going to get a legit copy as a xmas present for myself (eventually along with massive, Syrum, and some other VSTs Big grin )

I totally understand, and as it is my current setup is ~$1500 which is literally just my PC and speakers. I used to be (and still am kinda) big into gaming, so I have a pretty decent PC.

I enjoy anything except country music as well. I don't wanna hate or be too negative, but it's just too.. Beer Trucks Hookups and stuff that is totally opposite of consciousness expanding- at least for me.

I love 60s & 70s stuff (except get this, I've never listened to Pink Floyd, I'm saving it for the right trip Very happy) but my favorite is of course electronic music, and my favorite electronic music is Psybient (Followed by Psytrance, Downtempo, Deeper Dubstep, and really anything.)

If you want some really amazing people to listen to for psychedelic music, and you haven't heard of them already, my greatest musical psychedelic experiences that I've had have been induced from listening to Carbon Based Lifeforms and Tipper.

Other than that, if you want something more upbeat, some Psychedelic Trance I've been really digging recently is Ovnimoon!

Let me know what you think of those guys. Are there any electronic producers or genres that you know you like already? I can probably help you to find more, and electronic is really my expertise. I know of some good psych rock and hip-hop guys, but you've probably heard of them all already.

OH, ALSO I CANNOT FORGET SAVANT. He is a god among musicians, I highly recommend listening to some of his stuff. He is insanely talented and innovated, and can induce an insane amount of inspiration!

Oh man, you are in for a real treat when you really sit down and listen to Pink Floyd! My favorite albums of theirs to listen to while tripping are:

Obscured By Clouds
Dark Side of the Moon
Meddle
Animals
Atom Heart Mother
Wish You Were Here
Relics
Piper at the Gates of Dawn
The Soundtrack from the film "More"

Usually in that order too depending on the length of the trip...Also if you go to FL studios website you can look at all the famous artists who use FL Studios. There are quite a few of them most of which I have never heard of but still interesting nonetheless.

As for electronic/psychedelic/dubstep style of music I really enjoy:

BT
Basshunter
Bassnectar
Skrillex (when I'm in the right mood, lol)

I've listened to Savant and Psybient both of which I did enjoy but need to listen to more to gain a better opinion. I don't listen to a whole lot of music from this genre but not for any particular reason. I'd be glad to listen to whatever you would suggest and will be checking out the artists you already mentioned.

Smile

Agreed! Although Syd Barrett's influence on Pink Floyd was immense, and his downfall was saddening, it is really enjoyable to listen to each album in chronological order to hear how the band progressed through the years. I may get some flak for this but "The Wall" is probably my least favorite Pink Floyd album...at least before Roger left the group. Don't get me wrong though, Comfortably Numb, Young Lust, Hey You, and Goodbye Blue Sky were all great songs but something about Rogers high pitched and desperate sounding voice in some of the songs is off putting for me....anyway, Momentary Lapse of Reason was alright, The Division Bell was better (Marooned is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard in my life...pretty sure it won awards), and the Endless River was a great way for Floyd to end.

All the while, David Gilmour has been making music almost every single year since the mid-late 60's with various artists here and there as well as making several solo albums, all of which are very impressive.

Well I better stop now or I'll rant forever! Laughing

This has been a fun and interesting discussion for me as well, so thank you!
