Let's try and get some real data before we start making strong claims one way or another.

This study, of Ayahuasca use among adolescents growing up in traditions where it is a sacrament suggests that, on the whole, use of Ayahuasca by young people is associated with better mental health and no real signs of psychopathology.

To me, that's good evidence that there is nothing *intrinsically* damaging about exposing a teenage brain to DMT. Now, we need to keep in mind the cultural elements: the teenagers in this study are in a community where psychedelic experiences are normalized and there is a culture of integration. This is not the case for a teenager getting high in their basement, and so the effects may be different.

If anyone else has any studies of this, I'd be interested to see what's out there.

Personally, I'd say don't do it, unless you are in a position where there is someone to serve as a guide and help you integrate the experience. Also, maybe consider putting off recreational drug use until you're older. DMT may be fine, but there are a lot of other drugs that you don't want to add to a developing brain.

I'm going to just assume you're 14 and put your account on hold for four years. Feel free to come back then and discuss further.

If you're an adult trying to decide whether or not to dose up a 14 year old, I would say please don't return in four years (or ever).

Good work. Thumbs up
