Hi all,

Thought I would start documenting and recording my ethno-related plants. I love gardening and have many veggies and fruits on the go, but I'll keep this thread specifically for those plants we have an intimate relationship and intense appreciation for. This thread is primarily a log for my own statistics but feel free to comment or give me some advice if you have it!

Currently I have A. Maidenii, A. Floribunda,A. Acuminata (narrow) and T. Pachanoi waiting to sprout. Will get photos of those up as soon as they pop through! I live in a desert climate (rural Victoria, Australia) and the grow season is pretty much year round! My only concern is heat and sun damage as the temps often get to 35-40c here. I am considering setting up a small greenhouse. If anyone has any recommendations for plants that grow well in this climate, please feel free to chuck them my way!

The Syrian Rue was grown from seed and I currently have 4 seedlings that have started their 3rd set of leaves. They look healthy as far as I can tell, and are in a soil of predominately sand with a handful of potting soil. I planted 15 seeds all up, and I am STILL getting seeds germinate nearly a month later. After the initial dismay at their growing speed and germ rate all I can say is, patience will pay off! Their growth has accelerated dramatically in the last week, and soon I will consider repotting as I've heard SR relies on a large root system.

The pine tree seems to be doing ok; in the first week it was pulled completely out of it's pot by meddling toddlers, but it hasn't appeared to suffer from the root disturbance. Though pine trees themselves aren't psychoactive the litter they create is perfect for P. Subaeruginosa shrooms, so this is more of a (very) long term project. One day I hope to put it in the ground and have my own flourishing patch underneath.

The A. Baileyana has experienced some yellowing of it's lower leaves, but there is new growth from the top and it seems to be finally adjusting. I gave it a high phosporous fert straight after potting which, on further reading, was a crucial mistake but it seems to be coming back.
