I suggest to slow down with smoking spice if you constantly have bad reactions to it.
It is a very powerful psychedelic, so its much more likely that DMT is responsible for your reactions then the Naphta. The Naptha, if it really has residue is what I believe, more likely to cause short-term uncomfortable physical reactions, then long-term psychic ones(but also possible long term negative physical reactions if you use it more often). But yes you probably still would be better of not smoking anything with residue.
If DMT doesnt work for you in a good way at the moment, maybe try some other psychedelic substance, but inform your self well about it before, and be conscious about set and setting. Espescially if you want to use it for healing, and have some serious problems with depression, I cannot stress this fact enough. Be in a comfortable space before going in that kind of adventure.
I for myself can only say, that I also didn´t have alot of comfortable experiences with smoked DMT so far...
How ever with most psychedelic substances I used orally, mostly Mushrooms and LSD, I had a lot of very beneficial and life enhancing experiences.
For me it seems its the duration of the trip, that does the thing for me that im looking for.
On the other hand, if you want healing and transformation, maybe look into other things aswell.
Have you tried meditation or yoga(or some other mindful physical exercise), are you aware of the impact food can have on your mental health? Just some suggestions..

Sometimes some things need to be fixed before those powerful substances can fully do their work(alas thats my believe).
