Apologies if this is the wrong place but does any else suffer from an adverse reaction to naphtha fumes & what is the best way to prevent future problems ?

Done a few pulls using a version of Cybs salt tek & at first everything was fine , well ventilated room with no probs but the last two I have had serious , allergy type reactions .
Didn't notice at first because it coincided with a nasty cold virus doing the rounds & began to suspect it was the naphtha the second time round , symptoms cold like , seriously wheezy chest lasting for several days .

My suspicious were confirm when I sorted the last 100g MHRB mix , very careful to ensure there was adequate ventilation but as soon as it came adding & drawing naphtha off the symptoms flared up quite dramatically .

Need a serious rethink/solution before I attempt anything with naphtha involved , alternative perhaps or industrial gas mask to shield me from the fumes , any help would be appreciated .

Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

I haven't personally had any adverse reactions to Naphtha fumes but my girlfriend has. She gets light headed followed by a headache and slightly feeling ill at times. She can't be anywhere near it so out of respect for her, I never extract with her around anymore unless using a food safe tek.

I always use a painters mask (not the cheap cloth ones) in combination with adequate ventilation. You can never be too careful though so an industrial gas mask is probably best in your situation. You could always try a different solvent if nothing else. Stay safe!

Do you have a detatched garage with a large car door? What I have always done was extract in the garage with a respirator on & then when the naphtha needs to evap down before freeze precip leave it in there & check on it every 6-8hrs. The big metal door is always the entrance & exit when the naphtha evaps since it allows for the fumes to escape quickly & is always left open for a couple hours afterwards.

If nothing you can switch to limonene. It is a bit more expensive but it is not nasty like naphtha when it comes to fumes & never needs to be evaporated period.

Thanks for the replies , cold bug still doing the rounds so I'm thinking the naphtha fumes are exacerbating & prolonging the symptoms .

I can obtain d-limonene relatively cheaply , cheaper than naphtha actually , but am I right in thinking that it's not suitable for freeze precipitation ?

Yeah, unfortunately you can't do freeze precipitation with limonene.
