Could someone point me in the right direction to build a distillation setup for kratom?

http://www.amazon.com/MH...Apparatus/dp/B001VE93YS
http://www.amazon.com/Ma...ation-Lab/dp/B00A9Z98M2

This for example, where do i put the kratom? Or do I need to cook it first and a get a alkaloid infused solution? Where does the solvent go? Just seeking some advice how distillation set ups work.

Would either of these work? And what is the end product? Is it just alkaloid infused solvent that needs to be evaporated?

Thanks much for your time!

That may work for purifying solvents. Are you wanting to steam distill?

I don't know what you're planning to achieve. Walk us through your plans so we can give you better advice Pleased

Maybe I had the wrong impression of what a distiller is/or can do. I'd like an easier and more efficient way of extracting all the alkaloids out of my leaf. WIth this contraption you posted, i can use to extract kratom alkaloids? How does it work? I just put leaf and solvent and it drips me out an alkaloid infused solvent that needs to be evaporated?

I have no idea about kratom per se, but in general, that's not usually how it works...

Distillation is for separating fluids with relatively low boiling-points, but from what I can see, the active constituents of kratom have a BP closer to 500C...!

There are old threads online discussing this topic with little apparent success.

Maybe ask yourself why you're even bothering?
“I sometimes marvel at how far I’ve come - blissful, even, in the knowledge that I am slowly becoming a well-evolved human being - only to have the illusion shattered by an episode of bad behaviour that contradicts the new and reinforces the old. At these junctures of self-reflection, I ask the question: “are all my years of hard work unraveling before my eyes, or am I just having an episode?” For the sake of personal growth and the pursuit of equanimity, I choose the latter and accept that, on this journey of evolution, I may not encounter just one bad day, but a group of many.”

Distillation does not always yield a concentrate like with alcoholic drinks. What it does is that it evaporates only the chemicals that boil at less than 100C (like alcohol) and condenses them (returns from gas to liquid) into a container.
If you distill coffee, you will only get weird-tasting water with no active ingredients, as the active ingredients need higher temperatures to boil. The situation is similar with kratom tea.

But I'm not an expert and I may just be writing stupid things Very happy

Why do you need to extract your kratom? Doesn't it work well enough as it is?

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

I can't digest that powder material.

You might benefit for a kratom extract, like 30:1.

To make it yourself, a hint here:

I made a crude extract from kratom some time ago with just water and washing soda (optionally a dash of vinegar). No fancy solvents or equipment and no dangerous operations involved.

Since I am not a kratom user, I have not tested the result, but a friend who did said that it worked. If you want to try it out yourself (and review it), please read this post.
