Maybe I'm crazy, but I thought the vapor genie came with a ceramic filter in it already? Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you.

From what I read, dmt shouldn't be put directly on the filter, but in the chamber below it. I think vg's liquid pad works great

Are you talking about one of those flavor stone thingies? I hear they work well.

Copper mesh pad works great, better than the volcano liquid pad IMO, easier to cut too. I also poked myself under a fingernail with a strand of the wire. Maybe that's why I'm prejudiced against the volcano pad
I've never used a wood VG, but with the GVG, my technique has advanced to the point where I can reliably break through (if it's in the cards that day) at around 20mg. Recently broke through with 30mg caapi vine extract sublingual and 10mg fb! Keep at it. Dip the flame in and out and try not to burn the spice. It's my theory that burnt spice is a common cause of hyperspace lockout.

I have the same VG and I vape changa (plain caapi leaf) with great success. It takes some practice to get the heat right with a torch lighter, but it is so rewarding when done correctly. You can also use enhanced leaf in the same fashion.

As others have said, you can buy the liquid pads easily online or you can use a stainless steal scrubber if you are set on vaping freebase.

It does come with a ceramic block, it is basically the difference between the GVG and a regular glass pipe.

When people have talked about using a liquid pad, ceramic block or flavour stone in this thread, they mean as an add-on to hold the DMT. The ceramic block that comes with the GVG diffuses heat and protects from direct exposure to flame.
