"The universe may have existed forever, according to a new model that applies quantum correction terms to complement Einstein's general theory of relativity. The model may also account of dark matter and dark energy, resolving multiple problems at once."

No beginning? And no end? The unconditional paradox? Sounds like the kind of universe that always has and always will be. A kind of universe that can know itself. Especially within the psychedelic/entheogenic space from which we perceive through. Very happy

Skip the manual, now, where's the master switch?

We are interstellar stardust, the re-dox co-factors of existence. Serve the sacred laws of the universe before your time comes to an end. Oh yes, you shall be rewarded.

I have alway's found the big bang to be a flake out...

I mean the word universe means everything. Even if there was a big bang there had to be a cause for it.

See that's the funny thing about cause and effect. By definition it can't really have a beginning nor an end. All causes come from effects and all effects go on to be causes.. You can't have a first cause.. nor a fist effect. Causes and effects are inextricably linked in a never ending chain.

Personally I like the idea of an infinite universe. Physicists talk like the universe is only 14B years old, but that is only the Universe we can observe. Does anyone really believe the universe just stops once you get past the observable universe? Hell no. The universe is infinite.. that is what the word means. If at the end of the black universe there is something else then the word universe has to expand to include that as well.

Of course if it turns out the universe has no discoverable beginning (like Buddha said) then it raises suspicions about the ability of science to ever provide insight into the larger questions about the nature of our being that all humans want to understand. Which don't get me wrong here, I am a scientist and I love science, but I wish science would get out of the way so we can get on with exploring subjectivity since if we are all completely honest the only thing that ever matters to us is our subjective take. Who cares if the average person experience X a certain way if you experience it differently? it's your experience you want and need to understand.

Dear physicists so the big bang crapped out on you and you are left hanging... You sir need 3 grams of shrooms and 20 mgs of DMT at the peek.. I suspect you will find something far grander than the never ending black void of twinkling stars above your head.
If your religion, faith, devotion, or self proclaimed spirituality is not directly leading to an increase in kindness, empathy, compassion and tolerance for others then you have been misled.

We'd better search for the beginning and the end of misleading concepts. Pleased

OMG! ... I just saw Stephen Hawking launch from his wheelchair (in my imagination) ... funny and disturbing at the same time.

Read Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time and you'll see you don't need a beginning of the universe, you don't need a creator and as you get closer to the big bang point time ceases to exist. OK, I'm not saying that I understand what he says exactly Very happy even though this is the layman's version, not the heavy duty math version.

That does bring me to a theory of what those entities actually are but that needs another 10,000 word thesis and I don't want to bore the pants off people and it's probably wrong in any case!!

In all of reality there are not two. There is just the one thing. And I am that.

I understand the idea that time as we know it started with the Big Bang but it doesn't excuse the idea from the questions about cause and effect. It also doesn't explain the simplest but most important question as I see it. Why is there something instead of nothing?
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today,
I wish, I wish he'd go away.

Are you absolutely certain that there IS some 'thing' ?

I know I'm experiencing something. I think that's the only thing I'm capable of knowing with 100% certainty. Everything else would require some measure of faith.

If there really was absolute nothing, there would be nothing to think about, no-one to think it and no venue for it to be thought in. It would be the default state of non-existence.
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today,
I wish, I wish he'd go away.

The work of David Bohm is legendary, the authors of this model seems to have drawn heavily from his work.
