Over this past summer I managed to do quite a bit of experimenting with LSD. I was taking somewhere between 200-600 micrograms (I'm guessing here) at least once a week. Now I've always understood the visual aspect or psychedelics to be unique to me because everyone's brain is unique to them. BUT I have had time to think about this (obviously) and I'm under the belief now that ,at least at first, the way that your brain interprets certain things are in fact interpreted that way because SOMEONE ELSE placed the idea of how it is supposed to be interpreted. I.e. An LSD visual looks this way because your friend described what he is seeing to you.

Now another observation i have made (that supposts this in my logic) is that the more and more I experiment with psychedelics in general, the more I realize each "trip" is different. I was having completely different "trips" from the same sheet of blotter on multiple occasions.

Any thoughts?

Set and setting.

Your expectations are part of the set.
Images of broken light,
Which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on...

I find for me that hallucinogens work much like dreams. As they are experienced, they don't really make much sense, they just provide a sensory experience that may or may not have emotional content. The ego quickly forces the broken narrative into a form the rest of the brain can process. As you have indicated, since the sensory input is so scrambled, the narrative can be informed (or influenced) by other people, or recently seen films or whatever.

Ego loss (for me) is what happens when my ego can't keep up with the raw hallucinogenic sensory stream. It becomes impossible to have anything 'make sense' as it is experienced. This is very much like dreams that don't make any sense until they are thought about for a while. Making these new connections to a deeper narrative is what I think makes psychedelics so therapeutic.

The more you work with hallucinogens the more you can hold off on 'forcing a narrative.' You don't have to see walls breathing or faces in the palm of your hand. Instead, look deeper and the images inform more a more nuanced experience.

That is wonderful. I actually think I'm coming up on a break from tripping out soon. I've been operating too well even at +++. Ha-ha. I took 7 decently strong tabs (200-250 micro maybe?) At a festie over the summer and I was like the least fucked up person there, it was wonderful and slightly disappointing at the same time.

A fundamental aspect of traveling is the return home, but home is never the same once you've been traveling.

Good observations my friend.

YES. Same here. Alex Grey's work came into play during my first deep experience. But then again, there are ALSO brand-new visions that nobody could have planted in my head. I think it can be a mixture of both...!

Absolutely. Not all psychedelics are like this. But ask anyone else on here. I heard from someone just the other night that each of his 100 DMT experiences were all different.

And yet my shroom experiences are all similar in how the trip feels and looks within the same strain. Ha-ha ppp cubensi mushrooms from north america are SUPER DIFFERENT that p. Cubensi mushrooms from Asia out south america

That's an interesting observation. Shrooms are always shrooms but my experience also holds up that cubes, libs, cyans, ovoids, and samples of each from different strains/locations are none-the-less different... kind of bears out the expectations element really, I'd say.

This requires some double blind testing Twisted Evil

β€œThere is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

Tell me about it, I'm never sure what to expect from shrooms from strain to starin anymore. I've had trips with no OEVs or CEVs I've had shrooms so outwardly visual that if I hadn't watched them grow I would have sword they had LSD on them.

And I have spore syringes for three different p. Cubensi strains and some very willing friends. That double blind might happen.

I always find more visuals from mushies than LSD. LSD for me is so internal.

I defiantly get visual distortion from both, but mushies have never really fucked with my vision the way L has. I've definitely gone "blind" in a psychedelic swirl trippin on LSD.
