Though I may be wrong as I haven't seen this guys facebook page and I don't know of him at all.
Maybe you and him just perceive it differently? E.g. To him, having a facebook banner with selfies isn't a big deal, he just thought it might be easier for people to recognize his page better so it's easier to find him or his organizations page etc.
Whereas you and I might think this guy is full of himself, just wants to show off, what a cocky bastard etc. It might be true to a certain degree, but maybe not to the extent that you think.
I think I understand you though... especially knowing how people are using facebook nowadays(I feel this especially as I'm in the younger age group. My generation is facebook obsessed.) A persons Facebook seems to be a digital manifestation of their ego. Either way it may not necessarily be bad. Though if you desire not to surround yourself with highly egotistical people as I do, then it may be better not to deal with him?
Honestly I have met many people whom I believe to be high enlightened, some were highly egotistical, some with only remnants of it showing through as they live mostly in a selfless state.
So yeah, I don't think it may necessarily be bad, maybe you could even ask or talk to him about it. I don't know what you mean by "dealing" with him, whether that means undergoing a ceremony with him guiding or whatever but just because he has an ego doesn't mean he's a "usual" human, I'm sure he still has some knowledge to share and likewise with you, you perhaps have knowledge of the ego to share with him haha.
Don't look down on him or anything, he's on a journey himself as are you.
Be open, so long as you have intentions of love within you. It can't hurt to talk to him about it.
