SWIM haS noticed that a lot of people like to boil the plant matter 3 or more times, leaving the alkaloid-containing water on the side so they can later combine it all and reduce it.

Well SWIM was wondering if you can just keep on adding water over and over to the simmering tea, and still have the same effect as if one were to boil it multiple different times. It makes sense SWIM's head that if SWIM just keeps on adding more and more water, that the brew will still be the same, given that it was brewed for the amount of time it would've taken anyway.

So is it okay to do it this method or not? If not, why not? Thanks!

The FAQ is full of good info, be curious.

And please, SWIMming is not welcome here ... not enough water.

I lol'd and went "swimming is so fun though"
I've always thought SWIM was a little strange. It's like... Saying you are doing something but denying it and blaming it on your pet rock.

On topic though, it makes sense to me that you could reduce it that way, except that the water might become saturated? And that's why fresh water and a new boil would be better?

And well I honestly don't see it being saturated would be a problem, since that's what reducing does anyway Pleased

So what I'm taking from this is that it really doesn't matter as long as it's brewed enough time. Thank you Laughing

Oh nevermind and thank you DansMaTete. I just read on why it's better to have multiple extractions. . . a little too late for me...

hey at least I must've gotten like 80% yield though, which is still a decent trip Laughing

SWIM offers no legal protection and is associated with recreational drug use.... And sounds silly.

In the Amazon they do not do multiple washes - they just boil it all day in one big pot and add water when they need to. They are also using fresh ingredients, not dried, and they also have easier and cheaper access to the plants. The multiple washes is to make it a little more effective since you have to usually used dried materials that are more expensive when brewing outside of the Amazon. So multiple washes are not necessary but will help you get the most bang for your buck so to speak....
