Does anyone have different methods of grinding up this ACRB?

A coffee grinder sucks! too slow and let than great results.

I am using one with a stainless steel bowl but it doesn't do so great.

I was thinking about removing the blade and sharpening the hell out of the edge since it is mostly just a blunt.

Any ideas would be appreciated!!!

I use this one, i put a handful of bark in it and press it 5-6 times for 5 secs and wait 15 secs for the powder to settle take out the bark and repeat, u can powder 100 g in 4 minutes

Powdered bark isn't 100% necessary. It typically means you can extract faster, but doesn't necessarily net a higher yield (and makes filtration a lot slower, if you choose to filter).

Sharpening your blade will definitely help. You can try soaking your bark in a little bit of water for a couple hours then giving it a few freeze thaw cycles. Pour off the excess water (keep it to add to your extract) and allow to dry and then try grinding again.

It's easier than it seems...if it's whole pieces just hit it with a hammer (I use a small sledge) at about medium strength and it should sort of crush into about the size of very coarse sand. Then you can put that into your coffee grinder or blender without damaging it much, although a sharp blade wouldn't hurt either haha

Hope this helps Smile

Wizard is right, the filtration takes longer, but a 50$ hvac pump pretty well eliminates this problem.

You could just stick it in a ball mill for a few days in the garage or something, that works pretty darn well. IME I've always just cut my shredded bark into small bits with real sharp scissors, and froze it overnight. I've been pretty satisfied with my yields so far.

Back to answering your question, the easiest means to powder bark I've tried was definitely a ball mill. A rock tumbler with bark and several ball bearings will do nicely, and I've seen these as cheap as 20$. Ball bearings can be found in the airsoft/bb gun section of any walmart.

That's actually a great idea 1ce. Never thought of that before. When I used to powderise my bark (I don't anymore, just smash it down to fibres with an air hammer) I would do the freeze thaw thing and then pack it into a piece of 3/4 steel pipe and jam an 11/16 drill bit through it (with a suitable catching device, obviously). Always came out like saw dust Big grin

Cool tnx for the advice. I got the blade off and put quite an edge on it and it has improved dramatically. But I wouldn't want to have go through that to sharpen it again I hope it holds up.

Anyway the ball mill wow what an idea!! I think I have an old rock tumbler around somewhere.

That plus some ball bearings I am going to give that a try for sure!!
