Ever since I completed my first extraction and began working with this amazing molecule, I have basically followed the same rituals. I like to eat well and focus on maintaining a positive mindset during the day while I am at work. Minutes before, I will do some deep breathing, smile, and calm my mind. As I begin to inhale, I always look at a stopwatch on my phone. As I hold my breath, I count the seconds on the phone and watch it change as the carrier wave grows louder. Watching my phone helps me center on something and it always tends to turn into a little screaming creature, intense but funny at the same time haha. Depending on how quickly my phone starts transforming, I can get a good sense for how strong the experience is going to be.
I was wondering how other people prepare in the hours, minutes, and seconds leading up to launch? Do you use a consistent image or just close your eyes right away?

When I first started doing DMT I would experiment with different ways of setting up an experience, just to get a feel of that influence on my headspace. I would trip in a well lit room versus a dim lit room versus a black light room versus total darkness. I would trip using a mandala as a focal point. I did DMT once while watching a movie. Sometimes I would spark up while I was just pacing around, this was done usually in a completely zen (near thoughtless state of mind). Several mini trip reports, one while watching Star WarsSince all of this experimentation I've settled on a few approaches. I like to set up a space, it usually depends on the subtleties of my mood. I may put on insense, a candle, or a blacklight, I usually always like to establish a visual focal point, either a statue or mandala, whatever mood suits me. I get comfortable having tried to be as zen as possible while maintaining the space, and then blast off. Many times I have liked smoking DMT while lying down in an empty bathtub, with the hopes of turning on the faucet it I get a candy land kind of experience, which usually works out beautifully, though I never start out with water in the tub, I don't think that would be too safe. I get my best trips when my space is set up for a particular vibe, but my head is clear (as in I'm not into the vibe in my head) then I just see where it takes me. Wow, i think I'd be pretty intimidated by a faucet whilst high, good on you! I've been wanting to do the bathtub thing since reading about another member's use of them. With water though. I think the warm wet would be like orgasmic! I'd take precautions against inhaling water, if just a companion at hand. Oh sorry, didn't answer your question. I don't have much ritual really, just get into a mindful space, several minutes of silent contemplation, usually after several days of thinking about it. Maybe a smudging if with company who is so inclined. I'm not much of a ritualist, really. I appreciate ceremony and all, just don't really practice an outward one. I pay close attention to my set, and then consider setting. Sine experientia nihil sufficienter sciri potest -Roger Bacon *γνῶθι σεαυτόν*

I try and keep my diet in mind always. When I know an experience is coming up I focus on it a bit more but I generally try and eat healthy. Set and setting are obviously important. I also like a visual focal point. In the minutes leading up to launch I like to meditate. I clear my mind and try and slow my heart rate as much as possible. I focus on my breath and eventually take the hit with my natural breath (just a little stronger inhale ). The hardest part for me is keeping my mind clear. Thanks for posting. Interesting to know others use visual focal points. “How long will this last, this delicious feeling of being alive, of having penetrated the veil which hides beauty and the wonders of celestial vistas? It doesn't matter, as there can be nothing but gratitude for even a glimpse of what exists for those who can become open to it.” ― Alexander Shulgin, Pihkal: A Chemical Love Story

Loved the star wars trip report! I like to have very minimal distractions and no music. Since I have a puppy, I have to make sure he is preoccupied with a bone or toy. Otherwise, he will cry and throw everything off..
The tub and turning on the water midway through sounds interesting. Though, laying in any empty tub is pretty uncomfortable. That is why I like my bed with plenty of pillows to fall back into! Feels like falling into a cloud as the feeling takes hold

Yeah on my second DMT experience I turned on the tub and the water started singing with light, it was amazing harmoniously synesthestetic, the primal mystical connection with running water was absolutely gorgeous. Heavenly to say the least. As I came down from that second heavy DMT experience I remember thinking of my pipe as the nipple of God lol. With the running water there were symbols coming from it. I'd recommend if you get in a candy land kind of trip where everything is otherworldly but you can still move around, try starting a bath, I promise it will be nothing short of magical, the symbolic connection to water especially in ritual is ingrained in consciousness, probably from the very earliest life forms, we all need water to live. Maybe set up a blanket and pillow nest next to the tub and if the urge takes over you can just go for it, that's how I did my first few trips. Though with everything be safe. Music is alive and in your soul. It can move you. It can carry you. It can make you cry! Make you laugh. Most importantly, it makes you feel! What is more important than that?

In relation to water, here is something I like to do with low doses: A Weekly Sort of CleanseBut besides that I don't really have any rituals...I mean, I like to light a few candles and I focus on my intentions...dim light, comfortable seating, and a positive mindset are the main things for me! Wow, great read on low dose cleansing. That is something I will definitely have to try! I can imagine how amazing a warm shower or bath would feel during a more mellow experience. Thanks for sharing!!
