Title says it all.

If SWIM uses the Lazy man Tek, does he need to clean them before he smokes them?

Or does the evaporation of the Naphtha clean it all out?

Theoretically I think you should have washed your solvent pulls 3 times with distilled water. The first wash containing a pinch of sodium carbonate. I've read this is a great way to get rid of impurities before freeze precip/evap.
If you just evaporated your pulls, I'm sure there is a bit of impurities in there. It's up to you whether you want to get them out or not.

The evaporation of the naptha does the oppisite of cleaning it all out Razz
If you just do a evap you'll tend to be left with all the gunk that was in the naptha aswell.

But yes, SWIM could prolly get away with smoking the unwashed spice if they so choosed.

Sidewinder, how does one wash using water? Wouldn't that take the spice and turn it to gunk?

Don't wash spice with water.

See step 7. You wash the solvent.

SWIM says he has never cleaned anything but learned after putting the extra naptha back into the solution jar, he turns the collection dish upside down on top of a plastic lid. This ensure that no oils/contaminates go back down into your frozen crystals. Just make sure SWIY leaves space for air to enter the collection jar. Even floaties seem to stick to the sides or bottom and no problems found from this being upside down.

Very good way to do it. This works for me as well.

To the OP's original question. YES, I would clean up a STB product with at least 1 recrystalization and 1 wash. It is alot harsher if you don't. If you put a dab of it on your tounge it will burn after a few seconds...clean spice tastes really bitter, but doesn't burn. Dissolve, wash solvent, recrystalize either in freezer or at room temperature while slowly evaping (not all but most) and then taste it, bet it dosen't burn anymore!

I don't know SWIM and personally don't trust him at all. If SWIM is posting, most likely I will not respond...as I said, I don't trust the guy. YOU I trust, but never SWIM.

would sodium bicarbonate work instead of sodium carbonate? SWIM plans on doing a STB extraction very soon and wanted to do a solvent wash but was unsure where to find sodium carbonate in time...

Yes, it will work. You are really just trying to get the water to be basic so that there is no chance the DMT freebase can convert back into a salt form and move over into the water. It does not need to be crazy basic, a ph of 8 has always worked fine for me. I've tried to recover any DMT that might have crossed over, but there was none.

You can always bake your sodium bicarb in the over for a few hours at like 400 and it will turn into sodium carbonate (temp might actually be lower).

IMO if they look like white snow flakes at ROOM temp, it is PROBABLY safe. I know I have good spice when my leftovers in my pipe starts to recrystallize at room temp almost instantly.
