I think what's happening is you're opening up some psychic ability that lets you see into the future/past. That 'deja vu' is you simultaneously thinking in the future+past while being in the present. So in the moment you're like "Here comes a wave of events" and your future mind is like "already been there, brah" and your past mind is like "holy shit holy shit I know everything that is happening. Am I everything? Am I god!?!" Throw it all together and you get that funny feeling that you've seen it all before, while experiencing something completely remarkable.
Just a theory.
I like your idea. Taking multiverse theory a step further and saying all our infinite selfs are united and sometimes there is an irregularity in it's operation. This theory has always led me to be frustrated because I can't wonder why you would need one self to be self-conscious when you have an infinite or vast multitude of other selfs. I also don't know why we would be cut off from knowing a self that is connected to the future.
To me, this suggests our conscious may be connected on a higher dimension is very reminant of the 5th dimensional entity in MIB3:

When our brain interprets reality correctly; our senses hit our consciousnesses and then get recorded to our memory. But when Deja Vu happens, the brain registers into the memory first and the consciousnesses 2nd.
I.E. our conscious perception of reality has actually slowed down a little bit, letting things hit our short term memory first, thus we feel like we have already 'been there before.' One channel has gotten backed up for what ever reason, chemically in our brain.
Sounds very possible. In contrast to the quote above I agree that this could be just some sort of physical glitch or hardwiring malfunction in the brain caused by something and that something the dmt molecule interacts with.
