So a couple months ago I had my first DMT breakthrough. Something quite frightening happened and I just now am thinking about it. This was vaporized by the way.

What happened was, as I was peaking, I was able to completely surrender. When I did this and got extremely quiet, I rolled my eyes upward while having them closed, you know? I'm probably the only one who does that. When I did, it's like my heart exploded, a sudden intense burst all over my body, like my heart and veins ripped apart in an intense way. At the same time, I went from sitting comfortably to firmly grabbing the arms of my chair and legs stretched outwards, etc. It wasn't pleasurable, it was extremely undesirable and I thought I had died. It only lasted 2 seconds, and it happened twice in a row during same trip. Does anyone have an idea on what I experienced? Thanks. <3

Weird... I do that during trips from time to time too, but it isn't at all unpleasant. It's more just an intense rush that helps me to "take my eye off the ball" enough to ease further into it.

I've experienced various kinds of very real pain before including burning up, and having my eyes liquify. I guess its one of the things that can happen.

I remember after smoking DMT on pharma, my eyes were rolling. I was quite enjoying it. I think that part of what rolling your eyes will do is to put more pressure on your eyes which elicits detectable phosphenes which, while unnoticeable in hyperspace, will form the visual skeleton for extra hyperspatial detail.

In terms of your feeling like you have died, the odd thing I've noticed is that where your eyes are pointing makes a difference. I have a whole spiel on how "it's not where your eyes are pointing, it's where your attention is," and that is something of a different phenomenon for a different day. Rather what I mean here is that with my eyes closed, I've noticed such events where when I'm taken to a mansion in hyperspace that I regularly frequent. If I physically tilt my head backwards, my hyperspace view changes to bring me into a long spire with bird imagery floating in it. As I ascend, the imagery becomes more high vibration with more visual buzzing and the like. I believe I only got to the very top one time, but a mother-goddess was there with warm, motherly energy. Anyway, I'm getting off track, but the point is that the position of your body will make a difference in what you experience. In my last DMT experience, I experimented with facial expressions, and a blank stare vs. smiling vs. smiling with teeth all produced immediate, regular and predictable changes in the actions and configurations of the holograms in front of me. When you say that you feel like you died from rolling your eyes back, I find this interesting, but also believe that it is in line with my observation that changing the body can have an effect on the experience, and you should also keep in mind that having your eyes roll back is something that dead people may tend to do.

Part of what I would do if it happens again is to remind yourself that you can't die on this drug no matter how much it feels like you did. If you have trouble conjuring this thought in the experience, then it would probably be best to tell yourself frequently right before you do it, and even day to day when you don't, so that the thought is like a subconscious reflex. It's almost like you want to build up "muscle memory" for that thought. Of course I can imagine that the feeling of dying even with the knowledge that you are not must not be entirely pleasant. I'm sorry that I can't fully relate in this respect, as even after hundreds and hundreds of DMT experiences, I have yet to feel like I was dying, despite what I read rather regularly around here. I've had the white light and all that, but I didn't associate it with dying or having died.

I've only experienced physical pain on DMT once. All of the imagery matched that of sandpaper, and then pins and needles, and my tactile experience matched the quality of the visuals. Every fiber of my being felt like it was made out of sharp pins and needles stabbing me...luckily I kept my cool like waiting for the dentist to be done (ironically in retrospect I think I had went to the dentist earlier in the day), and it soon passed. That kind of experience never happened again, although I think I did get the sandpaper world once or twice more. To some extent that almost seems like landing in hyperspace in between the dimensions, like your "flight didn't stick the landing" or something to that extent. Perhaps intradimensional might be a more appropriate label for this phenomenon.

This is classic heart-chakra awakening. As chi (energy) moves around the heart's pacemaker, the heart-rate can get incredible, and people can think they are having a heart attack. This is simply natural, and the only way to get through it, and get to a true heart awakening, is by not getting frightened and not identifying yourself ("the I",) with your body. That way you will reach expansive states of incredible bliss. After this, other energetic phenomena will occur.

I suggest you read Tao and Longevity by Master Nan Huai Chin, which describes these phenomena more clearly. While it's related to meditation, when one takes something like DMT, some of the effects are similar to meditation, except it's like shooting out of a rocket, instead of gently setting a sail. Be gentle, be careful. Let go. That's the biggest point. Let go of all notions. Bliss will be unparalleled.

Thanks for this suggestion. My evolving understanding of the body mind connection made with DMT leads me to a desire to learn to recognize what is going on so as to utilize it fully. We're accessing things that usually take long training, and in my experience, stumbling into an awakening without awareness can be dangerous thing. To have some fore knowledge of what to expect would be a valuable tool indeed.

This is exactly the Salvia experience sensation I get when my soul (or whatever) is being peeled from my body to be pulled into the gravity well to Salvialand. It is telling you've experienced the exact same sensation when DMT and salvinorin two have totally different receptor profiles. This may be a clue about the meshing of matter, consciousness, and qualia on this level of experience. Once on a mushroom trip there were these futuristic astronaut type entities in Michellin-man type suits who were trying to peel my soul from my body, but it would not seperate at the foot. They pulled out a spraycan (ala Ubik!) and sprayed between the two layers of me along the leg, but the two wouldn't seperate and my foot and then leg started shaking convulsively. I then became fearful of a seizure and aborted the trip chemically. Don't know why I shared that, just a related anecdatapoint.

To the original poster I agree with Sherlockian_Holmes on the energy/chi/meridian/chakra explanation, I've had three of what I thought were heart attacks caused by psychedelically triggered kundalini arousal at the heart center, and three ER visits showing the distinct pain and obvious somatic symptoms were not based in this body. The heart is the epicenter of your energy matrix and physical manifestations of this activation can be quite scary at times and hard to distinguish from "reality".

Physically speaking, something happens when one rolls his eyes to the max and "pushes" to go further. It kinda hurts and leaves me disoriented for a few seconds. Let me explain with smileys: Rolling eyes Confused Confused Surprised Surprised Sick Wut? Sick Wut? Neutral Thumbs down
However, I sometimes feel an urge to do that and other muscle contractions/stretching while high on psychedelics. When I feel too high it grounds me, and vice-versa, like smoking a joint Pleased Not sure what's going on here, don't ask me. Stop

What a looney am I Big grin

I always roll my eyes upward & inward, to gaze at my third eye, whenever I'm meditating & almost always on a journey into the hyperspatial realms.

It's a simple meditation technique that was tought to me a long time ago.

I've felt like I was actually dying once on a DMT trip. I figured if that was the case that at least I'd be dying doing what I love to do (psychedelics) & that I was ready (you better be because you could die tomorrow no matter what you're ingesting & no matter how young you are!). Of course, I didn't, obviously I would not be communicating with you now otherwise.

As Global pointed out in his thread above, I too experiment with movement & sound while under the influence of the spice. It is amazing what happens when you begin to do this. I encourage others to try different things out.

Peace.

I don't have anything all too specific to say. I had two holographic abstract geometrical entities floating in front of me undergoing multidimensional enfoldment. It's sort of like their motions were running on a mechanized sequence and that the different facial expressions produced predictable modifications in the sequence. Being that I have no clue what they are doing in the first place, it would be difficult for me to describe just exactly how it changed other than to say it did. I'd like to say they might have been moving more "positively" with the smile on my face, but I can't even be sure my mind isn't tricking me in retrospect. Next time, I will experiment more with the expressions, perhaps even trying some quirky or humorous ones, and I will make sure to keep my eye out for any specific piece of information to bring back with me that I can. In the mean time, all Nexians should feel free to give this little facial exercise/experiment a go. It is beyond simple, and if nothing else, we could chart for whom this creates a noticeable effect and for whom else it does not.

If you smoke DMT and something weird does NOT happen. Then I think you haven't smoked enough.

The DMT experience can present some pretty hairy sensations and intense physical based feelings. There's a massive range. Sometimes they just gain momentum and go to town. Sometimes it doesn't let up and just keeps intensifying. It will push those buttons. These things can really make you question what's happening; it can make you worry.

It's all normal, it's all on course. Very happy

It can definitely be unnerving. It'll pull out all the stops.

The yogi's refer to this rolling of eyes upwards and to the centre of one's vision with eyes closed as a sumbhavi mudra, and it has been used for a very long time as a tool of focus to augment and deepen yogic meditation practices. According to yogic doctrine this activates the ajna chakra/third eye, and is the point where a few different core energy channels (ida, pingala, sushumna) converge. Take that with as much of a pinch of salt as one chooses, but it does seem people have revered this simple technique for a very long time which is intriguing. I know of a few people into OBE's/astral projection that have also seemed to have independently come up with this as a way of assisting in initiating OBE experiences or the vibrational state that often proceeds them. With regard to the heart exploding feeling, I've heard many tales of people thinking their heart is exploding when practicing OBE's and getting the fear because of this and aborting their projection attempt...it can feel very real but is never your physical heart, most people view it as an energetic/heart chakra experience.

On the link to death, I'm in no way citing this as any kind of proof of anything, I just thought it was pretty interesting with regard to what you described. This is a description of the death of yogi Paramahansa Yogananda.

"According to an eyewitness – Daya Mata, a direct disciple of Yogananda, who was head of the Self-Realization Fellowship from 1955–2010 β€” as Yogananda ended his speech, he read from his poem My India, concluding with the words "Where Ganges, woods, Himalayan caves, and men dream Godβ€”I am hallowed; my body touched that sod". "As he uttered these words, he lifted his eyes to the Kutastha center (the Ajna Chakra), and his body slumped to the floor." Followers say that he entered mahasamadhi."

house taught me to press my palms together and look up with eyes closed, but it is of course an ancient technique, obviously associated with the "third eye" phenomena of various names.

Sometimes for example - like the first time I tried it on LSD - I won't be having any pronounced CEVS. Then with a bit of meditation like that, the jeweled chrysanthemum vortex (or whatever) starts to appear and a breakthrough kind of experience starts. Cannabis helps a LOT for me in reaching that point on LSD or mushrooms but it comes with a risk due to the anxiety it can trigger at times.

It definitely has led to some very interesting experiences for me, some of which had knock-on effects on 'sober' meditation and daily life, in regards to the so called third eye experience.

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"
