Here are the results of a test of using zinc to treat compared to an identical batch without the zinc.
The idea was to have 2 identical groups with as many shared details as possible with only the zinc as the difference.
The material is MHRB that had been "exhausted" by naphtha pulls.
A pull was made with 40ml xylene and evapped.
The result was disolved into low ph water and divided into 2 identical containers.
One had 500mg zinc added, the other left as is.
Both were shaken over the course of an hour, even the non-zinc one.
Both were than based and pulled with naphtha.
After freezing and drying:
A/B only-120mg
Zinc-126mg
The zinc batch is whiter. Even though the non-zinc had a mini A/B, it comes out slightly yellow as with others of this MHRB. I've done ACRB that comes out bright white after the A/B and don't consider the color as anything more than a curiosity.
