Effects of taking micro doses of DMT daily as a serotonin supplement that can cross the blood brain barrier.

What is the long term effects?

Would excess MOA be created due to having to deal with the excess DMT/serotonin regularly & once stopping the regular DMT dosages will there any negative effects due to the body expecting regular doses of DMT?

Would natural serotonin be reduced after a while since it's used to there being an abundance?

So basically is brain chemistry subject to conditioning?

If you were just taking DMT it would be destroyed by monoamine oxidase in the gut before it got to bloodstream. You'd need to add harmalas for it to get to the brain and that kinda takes you out of microdosing territory since fully inhibiting doses of harmalas can be pretty psychoactive on their own. Psilocybin would generally be moar well suited to the kind of work you are looking to do.

There aren't a lot of studies on the long term effects of this kind of thing, but based on the ones that are available I'd suspect there could be positive benefits if approached correctly.

Ayahuasca is fully metabolized within 24 hours, so it's unlikely that there would be any long-term effects to MAO or serotonin levels. Perhaps aside from some receptor upregulation.

I'm intrigued by the idea of altering baseline neurotransmitter balance via microdosing psychedelics, but this area is still very under-researched so we don't really know what the risks and benefits are. It is advised to proceed slowly and with caution when exploring this territory.

My understanding is, if you increase the receptor count your body will adjust by limiting the amount of available nuerotransmitters that can bind to those receptors.

I'm currently smoking NN-DMT in a eCig at a "as needed" dosage,
each toke guesstimated at about 3mg per toke.
2 tokes is usually enough and usually no more than 3 times a day.

Over the last year I've also been experimenting a lot with
MOA inhibition and Amino Acid Therapy...separately,I'm aware of the dangers.

My concern is that its all good & well providing my brain with
an abundance of neurotransmitters, but am I making my brain lazy?

I have not found any information that says supplementing amino acids
is bad for you long term & most supplements are available over the
counter.

Have anyone else experimented in these areas?

@dreamer042, the information you've linked was most informative thank you.

It's a bit more complicated then that. There are a few mechanisms by which the body restores homeostasis when exposed to drugs, and unfortunately, which (if any) of the commonly described mechanisms are employed on the 5-HT2Ar and related 5-HT receptors is kind of unclear right now.

I know it's not really a direct answer to the topic but, in relation to what dreamer said I have a close friend that used sub-threshold doses of Psilocybin to treat severe depression everyday for 6+ months with excellent results. He then stopped the treatment once he felt it unnecessary and returned completely to normal.

How is your Vaporized micro dosing working out so far? What are the cognitive effects when you take a 3mg+/- hit?

I find at that dosage it has mild sedative effect for about 5-10mins
after which I generally feel back to normal, no drop in energy
or mental energy afterwards and it certainly quites the mind from all the excess mental noise, I can reach the same place through meditation, DMT just gets me there a lot faster.

I also find if I smoke just before bed I'll have a hard time
falling asleep after +-5mins passes, kinda feel more awake afterwards.

It's also incredibly effective for constipation.

One thing I noticed is that sometimes the mental shift from normal
to DMT feels greater than other times.

Also during the "trip" it feels as if the universe is only as big
as the room that I'm currently in and I also become much more aware of the projections on other people and that they stem from me.

Of course a lot of this is subjective.

With my ROA im subject to the +- 30 second time limit after which
the body builds up tolerance.
It becomes rather obvious after about the 4th toke that it doesn't do much
any more.

Let me know if there was any more specific questions you had in mind.

You should just start meditating. I think that would be a better way to try to manipulate your neural pathways and change mental behavior. There are studies that support this.

Anyways I guess it wouldn't hurt anything to give DMT micro-dosing a shot, but mindfulness meditation is definitely a good way to train your mind. It's basically just teaching yourself to notice your own thinking. You focus on your breath for as long as you can until you feel yourself slip into thought, and eventually you form an appreciation for that feeling. It's about separating yourself from the next thought, and being patient enough to keep refocusing your attention.

It's what saves me when I start to get overwhelmed by thoughts while I'm on psychedelics.
