I have just completed my second extraction with very confusing results. I had a very high yield, just over 3% using earthwalkers tek and mini a/b.
Spice looked very nice, clean white crystals, some very nice crystal formations. Several people have had breakthrough experiences and some very experienced heads had a look giving thumbs up having look under very powerful lense but a couple said dosage seemed stretched over weight of material.
Problem is when vaped in my GVG thick vapor is produced for sure but a chalky white residue is left on top of the carbon stone in the GVG rather than melting into it. Im wondering if this is a contaminant adding weight to my exceptionally high yield. It doesnt seem to be lye or salt according to my taste buds... I am concerned however. I was not able to observe this until using the GVG.
Has anyone had experience with this left over residue? will add some pictures when i get a chance

Is there any chance it could be unvaped DMT residue? After 2-3 nights of real heavy smoalking I have some residue down the barrel of my pipe.

What carbon stone are you talking about?

Please tell me you aren't putting the spice on top of the ceramic piece... Because that's what I read your post to mean. If you are doing that, then I believe your GVG privileges should be taken away until you've spent another cour hours reading the GVG thread.

you misread. I use a carbon stone used for hash oil that you can place in any bowl to smoke. i read about someone doing it in another thread. you can heat them up and hash oil or spice will melt into the porous carbon. they fit perfect in the gvg without a screen so you can just drop spice right in. no mess, no fuss.

I know this is an old thread - but I used the same tek and I also get chalky residue on top of my liquid pad that doesn't vape in the gvg.
Not really sure what's going on.

Once you get no more vapour out of the pipe, wait 10-15 minutes so you know you're seeing straight. Then, turn your torch up and heat the residue directly and observe. If it quickly turns brown/black (burns), it's organic material (likely fat or stray plant matter).

If it doesn't change noticeably under direct heating after 10 seconds, it's likely NaCl (or some other ionic sodium compound developed from back salting). To test this, throw a little bit of water through your device.

If the chalky substance dissolves or appreciably disperses in water, it's salt/lye. If not, then it's probably some other insoluble sodium compound.

Anyway, it can probably be avoided by dialling back the NaOH in the mini a/b (try 10-15g rather than 50). Additionally, after precipitation, you could wash the crystals with a mild sodium carbonate solution at room temp.

Yeah i did notice when i burned it with the torch it burned up, so I am assuming it is organic matter.
