Okay so I am moving at the end of this month to a new place. Yay! I had lots of boxes in storage with many random things that I had forgotten about over the years. To my GREAT surprise, I found a ziplock bag within a ziplock bag inside one particular box ("bag-ception" if you will ). Guess what was in the bag? 244g of shredded mimosa hostillis rootbark!!!! I could not believe my eyes. I have had it hidden away in a random box for about 5 years and had completely forgotten about it. This is an amazing find because as we all know, Mimosa is impossible and/or sketchy to find in the states anymore. So my question is, is it still viable for extraction or Aya? It was in two ziplock bags inside an average cardboard box, kept roughly between 65-75 degrees for approximately 5 years. I would imagine it would be fine but I am no expert. Can't wait to try it out again! Mimosa, my old friend, where have you been all these years? Thank you for any and all input! New to The Nexus? Check These Out: One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

Please do let us know... i have ~1/2kg of powdered Mimosa sat in a cupboard for a few years now and given the frequency i vape it will probably be a few more years until i extract the DMT, i'm hoping it will tide me over for a while when the current vial is depleted.
Perhaps it would be best to extract it now rather than wait...

I extracted from 6 years old mimosa once (powdered and stored at room temerature) , and everything was fine ! (not the best yield due to other factors , but the spice was very nice) when there is no mold , go for it ! In Lak'ech - I am another yourself

Thank you for the input guys! I figured it would be viable still and I don't see any mold nor does it smell or look "funny" ... I am so excited!! Chronic wrote:Perhaps it would be best to extract it now rather than wait... As much as I would like to extract right away, believe me , I am in the final stages of packing up all my things and getting ready to move into a house where I'll be able to experiment more freely. I should be able to extract anytime after August 3rd because my official moving days are from August 1st - August 3rd. The anticipation is killing me! Thanks, Doc! I have been wanting to move since the beginning of the year and it is finally happening. And yes, there isn't a better housewarming/early Christmas present than finding a bit of MHRB! It seems the universe is smiling down on me and I couldn't be more grateful. It has been very refreshing these past few days! New to The Nexus? Check These Out: One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

So I am fully moved into my new home and everything is peachy...sort of. My goal was to start the Mimosa extraction as soon as I got fully moved in but now there are some maintenance issues with the house. While this isn't a big deal, the "ticket" is open ended, meaning they could show up any day at any time and do whatever whether I am here or not. I am glad I am in a house but I hate strangers just lurking inside my home, especially if I'm not here. So basically, I have to keep waiting until these maintenance issues are resolved before being able to extract again, for safety's sake. I'm a pretty patient person but when it takes them a week to even respond (plus 3 emails and 2 phone calls) to a work order request, I get a bit annoyed. And after all that they only resolved one issues today. Took him 4 hours to install a new faucet in the kitchen...? But Have no fear Nexians! I will still report on the 5 year old mimosa's viability when I get the chance! New to The Nexus? Check These Out: One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish

The main issue is having kept it dry, because when humid or moist, mold can start to grow. It would be very visible and apparent if it did though. If it looks all pink (or whatever), then you're good. "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein

No signs of mold that I can see and still pinkish as ever! drfaust wrote: I've heard of ten year old mhrb still being good Wow, so it seems like Mimosa keeps for quite a while then, under the right conditions of course! Here are a couple pics. They are the same pic. One with flash, one without. I suppose it is more orange/pink/tan/woodlike color! The wrench and rubber ducky are there for perspective! Okay, these are my results so far from the 5 year old mimosa: I decided on q21q21's jimjam party tek (I prefer food safe teks) on 100g powdered mimosa. I did 6 pulls with limonene and salted out with vinegar. Evaporated vinegar to reveal .504g of red/orange DMT acetate wax/goo. I plan to free base with sodium carb and then I will bioassay to test potency. I was thinking about trying a recrystallization (I have Bestine on hand) but since my end result is changa I was debating if I really need to go through the trouble. I believe there is still more DMT in my basic mix so I will be doing at least two more pulls (In the beginning, I do three pulls with fresh limonene and then reuse the limonene for the remaining pulls). I did not get the mimosa to a very powdery consistency this time around so that is why I am doing more pulls. Here is a pic of the DMT Acetate! It definitely has that signature scent!!! (Will post final yield after I finish pulling) EDIT: Final yield = 821mg TGO attached the following image(s): progress jpeg.jpg (3,681kb) downloaded 54 time(s).New to The Nexus?
