I've heard talk of people who want to "wake up the planet" which in my mind would be a lot like running through a chess tournament flipping boards left and right as you ran between the tables. Total dick move. The game is important, the game is fun, and it is, in the end, why we're all here.

And yet here I am, aware that it's a game, aware of myself, and exploring beyond it to try to find meaning both outwards and within. It's dizzying and wonderful and terrifying and full of whatever meaning we can cobble together through our experiences.

Indeed. Anyone familiar with nerds know that they don't like to be reminded that they're role-playing. Same in the waking world, talking about how this is just a self-chosen ride, a shared dream we chose to participate in before coming here, won't be appreciated by all those who are really getting into it.

We shouldn't force everyone to practice lucid dreaming.
"As my soul left my body, I found myself floating in a swirling ocean of multi-colored light. At the end, I could see and feel an even brighter light pulling me toward it, and as it shined on me, I felt indescribable happiness. I remembered everything about eternity - knowing, that we had always existed, and that all of us are family. Then old friends and loved ones surrounded me, and I knew without a doubt I was home, and that I was so loved." - Christian Andréason

Dude, that blonde girl is a total DMT/10.

IME, I have observed that there isn't ever any "end"...Wink
Freedom's so hard
When we are all bound by laws
Etched in the scheme of nature's own hand
Unseen by all those who fail
In their pursuit of fate

There is not much evidence to support that idea though. Bufotenine present in citrus trees for instance plays a role in modulating the mating behavior of butterflies. The idea of these things as deterrents seems to have less and less followers.

On the contrary, there is actually a substantial body of evidence supporting the role of tryptamines in plants as defensive mechanisms against predators:

I was definitely wrong about tryptamines not having potential to serve roles in plant metabolism though, as shown in some of the studies I linked.

Oh, not The End, certainly, but an end of sorts. While all is undoubtedly one, it's in our most basic nature to find edges and patterns, to draw lines, and to make distinctions. Whatever this currently is will surely end at some point if only to be replaced by something alltogether the same yet different.

Though that's so much easier to say than understand. Trying to wrap my head around that particular slice of infinity has led to some serious existential terror during some of my sober and more somber meditations. Looking too closely towards infinity and feeling trapped by it can be extremely daunting. Knowing that you can never truly get off the ride because you ARE the ride... yeah. I needed a stiff drink and a hug coming back from the full realization of that fact.

Heyt, thank you so much for those studies. Sadly I won't have time to read them for a few weeks as I'm currently wrapped up in final preperations for a ten day trip to a certain stretch of Nevada desert in a few days. Still, they're at the top of my pile to read when I get back, so thank you. Smile

I am very glad to finally be on the never ending path. Wondering around without a means to explore really sucks.
