I've always consumed my decoctions the same day or the day after brewing, so I know very little concerning the storage and preservation of brews, which is important to me, I want to start brewing a few days to a week in advance of consumption, or if consumption can not occur and must be rescheduled I want to know how to properly store these brews for extended periods of time...

Freezing the brew will likely be your best bet other than keeping it in its original powdered/shredded/bark form until brew time. Anything that is a tea-like liquid made from plants has a great potential to spoil/mold after a while.

So, unless there is some new great and novel method I am unaware of, id say freeze it!

I am curious to know if your trips are always this long ? If not what is the average time an ayahuasca trip last for you ?

Thanks !

^^...acrb (with either caapi or rue) is not 'ayahuasca' (in the true definition) ..and i don't think the terms should be casually interchanged..different additional compounds, different parameters and duration..
different teachers..

Different yet the same ime. What I do when conversing with friends who know, is if I'm referring to traditional brews, I call it ayahuasca, with analogues, I call it aya, more or less. I find that if I'm talking to someone who knows nothing about this, I loose them if I start talking about traditional vs analogs, but if I share with them, I explain it all first. Speaking of traditional brews, I'm about to start making my first chaliponga brew with caapi. I think I'll add a bit of chacruna to it as well. Chaliponga has me quite interested being that one only needs ~5 g of it, plus it's a bit different with its 5 meo content.

No, they don't, this was longest by far. It usually lasts ~4 hours for me. In my experience, more harmalas = longer duration and a much deeper trip.

Ok thanks ! Still, 4h seems long to me, mines usually last 2h.

4-6 hours sounds about right for me too. If your trips are short I suspect a lack of caapi / rue. I aim to get the bulk of the experience from my rue tea and just use a small amount of mimosa to give the experience some power

This is what I've been doing for quite some time now, and it seems much different.

I think you are right, I always over do it on the DMT containing plant (whichever at the time) and probably don't use enough caapi.

Thanks

Callaway's results following the ingestion of UdV hoasca tea by humans (from McKenna et al. 1998]:
Quote:
Onset in 35-40 minutes.
Duration around 4 hours

Compound Dosage Maximum
plasma level...Time to reach maximum...Half-life
DMT 0.48 mg/kg 15.8 ng/ml 107 minutes 259 minutes
THH 2.14 mg/kg 91 ng/ml 174 minutes 532 minutes
Harmaline 0.40 mg/kg 6.3 ng/ml 145 minutes Not measurable
Harmine 3.40 mg/kg 114.8 ng/ml 102 minutes 115.6 minutes

Mirror this as well, 4 hours of experience, with around 6 hours of strong afterglow when using (caapi only) however with admixture leaf.

In my experience:

It depends (on what exactly, I am not sure). I have actually had both happen. Sometimes it is closer to 2-3 hours of intensity and then another 3+ hours of coming down and afterglow.

Other times, it is intense for what seems like eternity (4 hours or so) and then the trip just kind of stops...instead of tapering off. It is quite mysterious.

I have also had other times where I seemingly took the same sized dose as more intense times and have next to nothing at all happen. Wut?

Ah ! I guess my dosage with MAOI's are fine then.

Do you feel as though you get less of an afterglow when the trip stops short on it's track ? And this feeling is partly replaced by a kind of mindfuck : what the hell just happened, my train of thought has changed, this is alien but I like it.

Maybe diet and period of the day play a big role in the duration of the effects ?

Very happy

Yeah, it is really all about experimenting and finding your personal "sweet spot" ... I am still trying to find mine! Very happy

When the trip stops short it is a bit bewildering and I always feel more disoriented than if I was let down gradually but yes, I love every bit of it!

Also, I should point out that I only fast about 12-24 hours before ingestion. I keep my diet the same throughout the week besides that. I have not experimented enough to know if that makes any sort of difference.

Disoriented is how I would put it too.

I personally don't fast at all and I think it doesn't make much of a difference, although eating well does IME.
