I just used Rons method to start however I don't really measure anything, I just go by what my ph meter tells me and the consistency of the initial mix. One thing to note is that lime does take a little longer to freebase things so I think the time I allowed it to sit was beneficial. The mescaline is not as accessible straight away as it might be if you use an initial water extraction and basify from there. You need to allow some time for things to slake a little.
Then as DG said (and as he has been saying now for years!) use a ph meter and some dilute sulphuric acid. I use a stir plate and throw some water into the flask with the solvent, add the acid drop wise as you check the ph. You get a feel for how much acid you need. In this instance I must have added 10 drops while mixing and the PH was still above 9, this is when you start feeling happy! keep going drop by drop, mixing mixing until you hit 7, toward the end you may have a few drops that send you to 5 or 6 but some mixing usually makes the solution climb back up to 7. If it climbs higher than 7 then add a teeny tiny bit more acid and mix. Stable at 7 is what your after.
Then reduce your saltings and mix with acetone, this mixture usually crashes instantly for me but popping it in the freezer overnight definitely forms more solid crystals.
My accurate scales were out of juice so I don't really know how much there was, but my inaccurate scales were hovering around 800-950mg.
As House would say in this situation, eat it all!
