I recently started looking for Phalaris Plants in my Region - and got somewhat confused by the Similarities many grasses share - today i stumbled over a small amount of grass that was new to me - it instantly made me think i found some kind of interesting Phalaris

Here you see Pictures of some Specimen -

Single Plant

Rhizome

The plants are around 100cm tall and freshly grown from a dense base of rotting foliage of the last season
What do you think ? Worth a try ?

Please help me with the Identification - i might try further processing Wink

he would have more vigorously tried to assist them. They were truly honorable; he was sadly prejudiced.
They were exceedingly well informed; he was grossly ignorant. They were totally indefatigable; he so often, and so quickly, gave up. Still, for many years there was a strong inter-species alliance between the Eleven-Eleven of the Half-way Realm, their Seraphic Associates, and their flesh-and-blood friend, a common mortal. Much was accomplished, many profited, and, there’s only one regret...They could have achieved so much more...

Very difficult for a non-expert to id grasses without flowers, happily- if you're in the northern hemisphere- they'll be coming into flower any time now. The height is in the right ball-park for Arundinicea, post some pics when they flowerSmile

As stated it is very hard to ID grasses w/o flowers.

The FASA tech works best with grass. Give it a try if SWIY has the resources. Remember though that a lot of Fum acid precipitates out as well as the alkaloid salts. Wash the collected crystals with water to remove the alkaloids and leave behind the fum salts.

Good Luck but don't count on it.

If it is indeed one of those two species, then it should be easy to distinguish between them.

Unfortunately even with the flowers many grasses have that general appearance. However SWIM will at least be able to narrow it down.

Thanks for your replies - I think i will freeze the Stuff and process it as soon as it turns out to be phalaris.
I will juice it and mix the resulting juice with Sodium Carbonate - then extract via Xylene/FASA

I thought this would be a nice start for my experimentation with Phalaris Species --- Big Medicine and Brachystachys is on it's way ... Smile I just really hope this turns out to be some kind of Phalaris Species i collected here
The - In Habitat Picture has yet to come...
The plants had no signs of flowering yet , so I quess I'll return in a few weeks

Look likes more arundinacea that aquatica.
Aquatica (or tuberosa) is smaller and its rhyzome has some kind of 'bulbs'.

If it has any usefull alkaloid in it, I suggest you get a bunch (at least 2 kilos), juice them, add some vinegar (to reduce the ph), wash several times with xylene before basifying.

I have been collecting wild arundinacea for 2 years now and trying various teks..with limited success..DO NOT expect N,N crystals..expect a mix of 5meo, bufo, and DMT..and TONS of defats. I think jorkest's swim may know more about actually pulling crystals, search for his phalaris posts..all I have got is yellow tryptamine goop..but it has always been active..not very visual at all, but a tryptamine feeling, brightening of vision..anyway, I cant be sure from the pics at all, but looks like arundinacea.

It's cool that you are into trying with the grasses anyway..I have some arundinacea that I collected and planted last year out on my deck and have been feeding it lots of nitrogen rich ferts and keeping it shaded..I trim the new growth tops every few weeks and than freeze them..the stash is building..and the grass is looking more blue and trypty than the wild grass aorund here!

I know that there is def active 5meo and DMT in at least the grass that I collect and grow, but it's not my main spice source at all..doesn't compare to mimosa..It interests me though, and I want to really try out some phalaris crystals one day just to see what they can really do..and maybe one day we will have some easy tek out there to seperate 5meo and NN from the other alks so it could be a worthwhile investment to do some experimentation just for fun for now..mimosa may not always be so availableCrying or very sad
Long live the unwoke.

Looking closer i get the feeling i cant really distinguish Phalaris Canariensis - Phalaris Minor and
Phalaris Brachystachys ...

Never seen Minor but have samples of Canariensis and Brachystasis seed and they are quite different; without going to the cupboard and checking, Canariensis seeds are somewhat larger and lighter than Brachystasis, also Canariensis heads will 'hold' their seed, a gentle tap of Brachystasis will give you a sprinkling of seed on your hand. Brachystasis is the wild parent of Canariensis.
